Same problem here ... only wanted to archive some music files. Since today's 
update nautilus crashed about 25 times 
Also using Ubuntu 13.10 with nautilus 3.8.2

Crash fixed from indicator-sound 0.8.4.0-0ubuntu1 to 0.8.4.1-0ubuntu1 ... Thank 
you!

Now automatically switches from internal speakers to HDMI ... I like!
But I think for professional users it would be much nicer to create
their own rules how to react. For example if somebody uses a external
soundcard and don't want to switch Sound on HDMI-Plug

Does not automatically use HDMI if plugged in from beginning! Need to be
fixed!
