[Bug 339370] Re: Cannot disable status notifications

2009-05-15 Thread somejan
I think the hard-to-findness of this option is still a UI bug. There
should be something in the main preferences panel at least hinting at
the existance of plugin config options (a 'plugin options' button or a
list of active plugins with 'preference' buttons or something)

[Bug 198218] Re: [hardy] After suspend sound isnt working anymore

2009-05-16 Thread somejan
confirming this is also affecting me.

laptop: HP Pavillion dv7 with intel IHC9 family chipset
driver: snd_hda_intel
aplay -l
 List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices
card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: STAC92xx Analog [STAC92xx Analog]
  Subdevices: 0/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 1: STAC92xx Digital [STAC92xx Digital]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

After suspend or hibernate sound becomes unusable (it only stutters). After
reloading the snd_hda_intel kernel module it works again, and strangely enough
that fixes it until the next reboot, i.e. I can then suspend/hibernate as often
as I want.
'sudo alsa force-reload' also works as it also reloads the kernel modules.

[Bug 332543] Re: echo test not working

I tried Yannicks patch. Calling the echo test now connects and I see the
video of myself, but sound still doesn't work as per bug #112948.

[Bug 112948] Re: Ekiga hangs when using pulseaudio

2010-03-29 Thread somejan
I installed a patched 3.2.6 version from
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ekiga/+bug/332543/comments/20
, which fixes me not being able to call.

When I call the echo test, I get video but no audio at all. The volume
change icon below the video stays greyed out.

When I try to play a test sound (in the sound events preferences
section) through the default device with pulseaudio enabled, that works
fine the first time. When I repeatedly play a sound, it works fine for
the first 10 seconds or so, after that it starts crackling. If I
continue playing the test sound, the crackling stays for another 2 to 20
seconds, and then sound stops and ekiga hangs at 100% cpu. The UI also
becomes unresponsive and I have to kill it. Banshee is having no trouble
playing music at the same time, so PulseAudio is not having any
problems.

When I try to play a test sound through the "HDA Intel (PTLIB/ALSA)" device
with pulseaudio suspended or pulseaudio enabled but not actually playing
anything at that moment, I get sound but it is as if every 50 ms sample gets
repeated for 5 seconds before ekiga decides to play the next 50 ms part. Ekiga
still advances through the sound file, but ver slowly and stuttery.
This behaviour is the same I had with PulseAudio under Jaunty when I tried to
play any kind of sound after my laptop resumed from a suspend. Killing PA every
time I resumed was a workaround there. In Karmic this PA problem was fixed.

[Bug 332543] Re: echo test not working

2010-02-20 Thread somejan
Same problem: trying to call Echo test hangs up immediately. Suggestion
of disabling some codecs in comment 18 doesn't help anything. I'm also
affected by bug #112948 (ekiga+pulseaudio not working), maybe there is a
connection? Though this problem persists if I kill pulseaudio, and other
audio apps work fine.

Ubuntu 9.10, Ekiga 3.2.5, snd_hda_intel driver
soundcard (according to lspci): Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9
Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03)

[Bug 112948] Re: Ekiga hangs when using pulseaudio

2010-02-20 Thread somejan
I'm also having this problem. I can't call anyone due to bug #332543, but I get
the same problem when I try to test the sound events in the sound events
preferences: ekiga uses 100% cpu. The UI is still responsive, but when I try to
quit ekiga that doesn't work until I kill it manually.
Same problem when run under pasuspender.
If I kill pulseaudio first, playing the test sounds works more or less, though
there is still sometimes crackling while playing a test sound.
Skype and other audio work fine.

[Bug 706795] Re: [All releases] Suspend/Resume with rootfs on USB, causes filesystem corruptions and kernel panic on mount attempt, leaving system unbootable with data lost.

2011-09-12 Thread somejan
I have a similar problem which I suspect is the same bug. In my case
it's a non-root ext3 fs on an external usb disk. I regularly leave it
plugged in while suspending/resuming, and sometimes it becomes
corrupted. The fs stays mounted across suspend/resume, but after the
corruption programs will start getting strange IO errors, I once got the
fs reported as being over 200 TB in size, (it's about 240 GB). Until now
an fsck has been able to fix it (in some cases only after several runs)
and I haven't lost any data. I'm running an ubuntu 2.6.32 LTS kernel,
but I could test under mainline later when I have time.

I'm also still experiencing this problem, both on a high end machine

a low end system.

[Bug 1015165] Re: i2c i2c-4: sendbytes: NAK bailout.

2012-07-22 Thread somejan
I can confirm that I also have this problem. Ubuntu 12.04 32 bits,
installed a week ago on not very modern hardware (pentium 4 1500 MHz). I
will see if I can test upstream, but I can't promise anything as it's
not my own computer.
