[Bug 493111] [NEW] X-Server freeze with intel 945 using Karmic

2009-12-06 Thread rho770
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

X-Server freezes at random occasions on Dell D620 with Intel 945 and
Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic). For details on the configuration see attached
files. No problems on same hardware when using Jaunty.

Problem is independent of whether compiz is installed and used.

Problem often occurred while scrolling in GNOME terminal. Here it is
also observed that sometimes part of the window is not shown correctly
(just some pixels).

Running server in debug mode following error message has been obtained after
crash using intel_gpu_dump utility:
Buffer size too small in MI_STORE_DATA_INDEX (2 < 3)

Possibly duplicate of following tickets: 424613 (no activities in last
weeks).

[Bug 1468232] Re: Font corruption Intel Broadwell graphics

2015-07-05 Thread rho770
Thanks for the suggestions!

After BIOS update problem persists. Example is attached (note not
correctly displayed character "5").

Output of dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date:
JBET50WW (1.15 )
06/10/2015

I am aware that this problem is reported for Ubuntu 14.10 which is
getting close to end-of-life. The problem was before observed also for
15.04. I performed a downgrade in order to use the Intel graphics stack
(which again did not seem to change the problem).

[Bug 1468232] Re: Font corruption Intel Broadwell graphics

2015-07-06 Thread rho770
Thanks, Christopher, again for swift reply.

I have tested the following kernels:
4.1.0-040100rc2-generic
4.0.7-040007-generic
3.19.8-031908-generic

While I managed to boot the system (Lenovo t450s), for none of these
cases WLAN worked. Furthermore, problems with building the kernels had
been observed, which seem to be related to the use of Intel Graphics for
Linux.

During 5 cycles of suspend/resume the problem could not be observed.
However, also for the current default kernel (3.16.0-41-generic) I
observed the problem sometimes to occur less frequently.

Given the fact that the current install is not fully inline with default
14.10 (due to use of Intel Graphics for Linux) and the fact that problem
is not sufficiently frequently reproducible, I suggest that I will
collect further observations and try to install 15.04 asap to eliminate
deviations from standard installation.

For the time being I keep this in state Incomplete.

[Bug 1468232] Re: Font corruption Intel Broadwell graphics

2015-08-05 Thread rho770
After clean install of Ubuntu 15.04 it could be confirmed that problem
continues to be present.

After switching to upstream kernel 4.0.9-040009-generic #201507212131
problem has not been seen for a few weeks.

** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu)
   Status: Incomplete => New
