[Bug 689352] [NEW] Update-Manager fails to upgrade to 11.04 alpha 1

2010-12-12 Thread philtheman0901
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-manager

When upgrading to the alpha version of Natty Narwhal, the update-manager
(distribution upgrade app) downloads all of the necessary files and
proceeds to install. However, about half way through the installation
process, an error message pops up and says that the update-manager could
not upgrade due to an unexpected error. It gives a command that reads
similar to the following:

"Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the
files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/ in the bug report.
E:Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1), E:Sub-process
/usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1), E:Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned
an error code (1)"

It then told me it was going to reverse the upgrade and return my
original kernel, Maverick Meerkat.

Other Info:

apt-cache policy update-manager yields:

update-manager:
  Installed: 1:0.145.9
  Candidate: 1:0.145.9
  Version table:
 *** 1:0.145.9 0
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty/main i386 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

lsb_release -rd yields:

Description:Ubuntu natty (development branch)
Release:11.04

this is weird because when I go to System>About Ubuntu it tells me I
am using Ubuntu Maverick Meerkat 10.10. Also update-manager told me it
was reverting to its orignal state but it looks like it continued to
install 11.04 anyways...?

[Bug 774667] Re: vlc crashes loading libva

2011-05-03 Thread philtheman0901
When I load vlc the video gets caught up and freezes. The audio stream
perfectly but the vlc application completely freezes and my mouse skips
across the page causing my entire to computer to lag. It usually takes
about 3 minutes to finally load system monitor and kill vlc. Movie
Player, however, plays the same videos completely fine with no hang up.

2011-04-30 Thread philtheman0901
Public bug reported:

When using LibreOffice in full screen mode, I will switch to Rhythmbox
via the Sound drop-down in the Panel. When I switch, the middle bar of

the program that is opened. I have to minimize LibreOffice (even though
rhtythmbox is the application on top) and remaximize rhythmobx. I have
to d this everytime I switch back and forth these applications. Also
happens with different programs as well. The picture i attached shows
the title bar problem.
