Is anybody watching this? As I said, and I can constantly confirm it: sudo restart network-manager solves the problem! But why does it hang up? System load explodes when reconnecting without restarting network manager. The time between the crashes can tremendously differ from each other. I use my laptop "Thinkpad R61" with Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala. The problem, which Simon describes still occurs and this without any roaming. After a uncertain (certainly quite long :-)) time, my vodafone websession stops working and is not willing to reconnect. The reconnection is seen together with a heavy load on my two cores, which will not stop until reconnection is manually stopped or by timeout. I use the K3565-Z usb stick. The problem could only be solved by restarting the computer. [Bug 1315434] Re: Mouse with no time remaining estimate showing in preference to battery being charged
I agree with Jochen and his followers, the whole idea and the dealing with it seems a little bit too sophisticated. Let's make it simple, for me, after the discussion, the philosophy is clear, and I clearly disagree, but to most users that obviously did not read this bug report or the wiki, the behaviour is just STRANGE and unsatisfying...But if you would want to change it like for example the boot order, you should be able to do so. The default case SHOULD BE THE BATTERY of the laptop, so the main interesting thing that should always be in focus. Suggestion for the future: Better you could add colours to the icon to show if it is loosing of its capacitance over the time :-), like red for only half of the capacitance, or a coloir, when you should really discharge/charge to extend batteries life of the laptop. That ALL wouldn't be as annoying for the normal user like the solution you find for it now... and I am sure of it. [Bug 1124328] Re: *ERROR* failed to set mode on [CRTC:7]
That is funny. For me everything worked fine after upgrading 14.04. The dual monitor set up works briliantly after using the additional driver package for ati radeon graphic card adapters (fglrxx-updates). It stopped working and producing exactly the same behaviour after working on another issue with compiz (skydome, cube rotating not working properly under 14.04). After trying to fix that, it fails, and the dual monitor vanished after logging in, leaving two black blank screens. In the error log there were repeatedly the above mentioned message. The odd workaround works (plugging off), after changing from Terminal 8 to 7 again (ctrl-alt-F8 and then ctrl-alt-F7 again), then immediately the second monitor came back again -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1124328 Title: *ERROR* failed to set mode on [CRTC:7] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/1124328/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

apport information ** Attachment added: "PulseList.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1373629/+attachment/4214057/+files/PulseList.txt ** Description changed: Dual monitor works fine with additional drivers fglrx-updates. After activating skydome, I suppose, it worked like the following: It comes with two monitors up, after logging in, both monitors will go black until I plugged of the VGA Monitor and switching with Ctrl-Alt-F8 and Ctrl-Alt-F7. Then the first monitor HDMI comes back again. I cann finally replug the VGA Monitor and is detected well. The bug is similar to the unmaintained #1124328. I have resetted graphics adapter and unity and compiz and xserver several many times. Behaviour is now stable. [Bug 1373629] WifiSyslog.txt
apport information ** Attachment added: "WifiSyslog.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1373629/+attachment/4214072/+files/WifiSyslog.txt ** Package changed: linux (Ubuntu) => xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu) ** Tags added: compiz-0.9 ubuntu ** Description changed: Dual monitor works fine with additional drivers fglrx-updates. I use Ubuntu 14.04 on my laptop Asus G73JH --- ApportVersion: 2.14.1-0ubuntu3.4 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC1: pwein 6246 F pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC0: pwein 6246 F pulseaudio CRDA: Error: [Errno 2] Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden CurrentDesktop: Unity DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=3b30ed53-c55c-430c-915b-2a3cb51f7ae2 InstallationDate: Installed on 2013-10-20 (339 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu-Server 12.04.1 LTS "Precise Pangolin" - Release amd64 (20120817.3) MachineType: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. [Bug 1094218] Re: lsb_release crashed with IOError in getstatusoutput(): [Errno 10] No child processes (called by teamviewerd)
For me the bug fix of ~brian-murray worked for me fine! [Bug 1094218] Re: lsb_release crashed with IOError in getstatusoutput(): [Errno 10] No child processes (called by teamviewerd)
Unfortunately today the error occured again, and even if I have installed teamviewer, I do not think, it is above explained problem. It crashes every session 0-2 times and I have absolutely no clue why. It occurs independently which program I start or not, besides Hplipopen, firefox and thunderbird. [Bug 2025523] Re: tracker3 taking 100% CPU for a long time
The problem came to me a week ago with the latest kernel update. If I try an older kernel it is still ok! if 'tracker3 reset -s ' works I cannot confirm, I simply had to end this task to work again. So...if I am using the most recent kernel, the problem still persists and takes 80% of my 4 i7 cpu cores (excerpt hwinfo): ``` vendor_id : GenuineIntel cpu family: 6 model : 142 model name: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10510U CPU @ 1.80GHz stepping : 12 microcode : 0xfc cpu MHz : 3402.360 cache size: 8192 KB ``` and kernel: ``` HPENVY13-aq1176ng 6.8.0-40-generic #40~22.04.3-Ubuntu SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Tue Jul 30 17:30:19 UTC 2 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux ``` I am wondering there is not a bigger attention here... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2025523 Title: tracker3 taking 100% CPU for a long time To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/tracker-miners/+bug/2025523/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
