[Bug 180658] Re: acpi does not report correct temperature on Intel Pentium 4 CPU
Same for me. Kubuntu 8.04, 2.6.24-21-generic. acpi shows constant temperature of 16 C, which causes thermal shutdows on heavy cpu loads. Tested the Intrepid live cd without success. -- acpi does not report correct temperature on Intel Pentium 4 CPU https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/180658 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 213818] Re: thinkpad CPU overheat ubuntu hardy 8.04
Same issue for me, Kubuntu 8.04 on a HP nx8220. I suffer from thermal shutdowns due to heavy cpu loads. On several occasions (while running cpu intensive apps) I also have nearly 90% cpu load from kacpid and acpid_notify (there is another bug report elsewhere). My cpu temperature is NOT updated (acpi displays constant 16 C, which is of course ridiculous), and the fan is not spinning when cpu temp rises. The problem appeared suddenly, I never had any issues with Hardy. Booting into the Intrepid live cd made no difference. However, the problem disappears when I boot with acpi=off. Hence, some acpi or kernel bug makes ubuntu with acpi unusable, at least for me. -- thinkpad CPU overheat ubuntu hardy 8.04 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/213818 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 675566] Re: upgrade to the latest 1.0.0a with its security fixes
Just to let everyone know, a security bug has been found in openssl : (copying from here : http://marc.info/?l=openssl- announce&m=128992699401945&w=2) "All versions of OpenSSL supporting TLS extensions contain this vulnerability including OpenSSL 0.9.8f through 0.9.8o, 1.0.0, 1.0.0a releases." This is fixed (again copying from the above): "Users of all OpenSSL 0.9.8 releases from 0.9.8f through 0.9.8o should update to the OpenSSL 0.9.8p release which contains a patch to correct this issue. Users of OpenSSL 1.0.0 and 1.0.0a should update to the OpenSSL 1.0.0b release which contains a patch to correct this issue." You can find more information about releases 0.9.8p and 1.0.0b here : http://marc.info/?l=openssl-announce&r=1&b=201011&w=2 So i believe this report should be updated to reflect the above and request openssl 1.0.0b to be included in the latest ubuntu repository (and maybe consider updating the other related openssl reports in launchpad concerning 0.9.8 versions) -- upgrade to the latest 1.0.0a with its security fixes https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/675566 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1869637] [NEW] hidden windows appear as opened after clicking the "Show Applications" button twice
Public bug reported: Steps to reproduce this problem: 1. Click on the Ubuntu Dock to open any application e.g. Nautilus. 2. A window with the contents of this application appears. 3. Click the (-) hide button of the window. The window hides from the desktop. 4. Click the "Show Applications" button of the Ubuntu Dock. 5. After the list of available applications appears click the same button again. The system returns back to the desktop view. 6. Notice that the previously hidden window now appears as open on the desktop. However, it is only rendered and it is not functional. One cannot click on this window to hide it again, move it to another location or use the application associated with it. The only way to return to normal is to click the icon of this application on the Ubuntu Dock and in this case the window opens properly i.e. it is rendered again but this time it can be used. Expected behaviour: After step (5) one should return to the desktop with the window of the opened application still hidden. Note that if several applications have been opened and their windows hidden then after operation (5) all previously hidden windows are now rendered on the desktop but they are not functional, as described above. The bug is against the Ubuntu installer. I don't know what is the package of this component and I cannot get a console (I'e tried all tty's but no luck). [Bug 875440] Re: Cannot authenticate with saslauthd and mysql
I'd like to share my experience with this issue. I'm also following the Flurdy tutorial for setting up postfix (http://flurdy.com/docs/postfix/), which used to work perfectly fine on my Ubuntu 10.04 installation. However on a fresh 12.04 (AMD64) installation with all recent upgrades I'm experiencing the issue described in this bug report. As was mentioned above, with the original setting of "sql_engine: mysql", mail.log reports "SASL PLAIN authentication failed: no mechanism available". So change this to: "sql_engine: sql" Also with "sql_passw: ", mail.log reports "SASL PLAIN authentication failed: generic failure". So change this to: "sql_passwd: " However I was still getting a "SASL LOGIN authentication failed: authentication failure" in mail.log and a "PAM (smtp) illegal module type: host=127.0.0.1" in auth.log. I found out that when I copy-pasted the contents of /etc/pam.d/smtp from the Flurdy site I had accidentally created 2 lines per entry in /etc/pam.d/smtp: (2 lines per entry): auth required pam_mysql.so user=mail passwd=aPASSWORD host=127.0.0.1 db=maildb table=users usercolumn=id passwdcolumn=crypt crypt=1 account sufficient pam_mysql.so user=mail passwd=aPASSWORD host=127.0.0.1 db=maildb table=users usercolumn=id passwdcolumn=crypt crypt=1 Which I corrected to: (1 line per entry): auth required pam_mysql.so user=mail passwd=aPASSWORD host=127.0.0.1 db=maildb table=users usercolumn=id passwdcolumn=crypt crypt=1 account sufficient pam_mysql.so user=mail passwd=aPASSWORD host=127.0.0.1 db=maildb table=users usercolumn=id passwdcolumn=crypt crypt=1 After restarting /etc/init.d/saslauthd restart and /etc/init.d/postfix restart everything worked as expected. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/875440 Title: Cannot authenticate with saslauthd and mysql To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cyrus-sasl2/+bug/875440/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1166124] Re: Ubuntu minimum system requirements needs to be updated
This is not a bug. Please learn what is Minimum and what is Recommended Requirements. Minimum requirements: This is the minimum hardware that anyone can install Ubuntu, no matter the speed, experience, lag, or whatever. This man wants just to install Ubuntu on his computer, nothing more. Recommended Requirements: This is all about user experience and all you talk about. If you want to "change" something this is the recommended requirements, NOT the minimum ones. ** Changed in: ubuntu-website-content Status: Confirmed => Invalid ** Changed in: unity (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1166124 Title: Ubuntu minimum system requirements needs to be updated To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-website-content/+bug/1166124/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1166124] Re: Ubuntu minimum system requirements needs to be updated
Salih, I am member of Ubuntu BugSquad team; my role is to triage bugs, meaning to change the status of any bug upon my experience. No offense sir, but I think that your suggested minimum hardware requirement ( 1000 GHz processor ) is out of range, because there is no processor with 1 Terraherz currently available in any scientific super computer laboratory. Strange thing, that 8 people have the same opinion with you. If you insist that, I would recommend you to present us some tests with minimum system requirements and then we can discuss your query in further detail. But just as it is, I can only see an unvalidated opinion of an Ubuntu user. Again, make no mistake here, you may have right or wrong, but this is not a bug report that can be triaged as Confirmed. This is just your opinion. If you can prove that Ubuntu Desktop installation fails, then I'd be happy to triaged your bug as Confirmed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1166124 Title: Ubuntu minimum system requirements needs to be updated To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-website-content/+bug/1166124/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

It seems to be an Ubuntu specific problem since trying the latest stable OpenSUSE and Mageia live cds do not reproduce the bug. ** Attachment added: "Screenshot3.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/829086/+attachment/2585207/+files/Screenshot3.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/829086 Title: Artifacts in 3D with Sandy Bridge To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/829086/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 829086] Re: Artifacts in 3D with Sandy Bridge
Indeed, the issue has been resolved. In Oneiric I had to install intel- gpu-tools from git ("git clone git://anongit.freedesktop.org/git/xorg/app/intel-gpu-tools") and then use "sudo intel_reg_write 0x9404 0x1800". -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/829086 Title: Artifacts in 3D with Sandy Bridge To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mesa/+bug/829086/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 872286] Re: Safely remove external USB drive in nautilus causes screen to freeze and system auto-reboot
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected staging ** Description changed: Plug in external USB disk (single NTFS partition) --> go to nautilus --> right click on volume name under 'Devices' section --> left click safely remove drive. Screen freezes and system restarts after a few seconds. Reproduced almost every time. In two occasions the system switched to terminal mode reporting "Kernel panic - not syncing: fatal exception in interrupt 3.0.0-12-generic...". However, I haven't been able to reproduce since. Using "umount /dev/sdb1" in terminal (where 'sdb1' the USB disk) does not cause the reported problem. The specific external USB disk has been used in Maverick and Natty without issues. Using another external USB disk (flash-based) and testing with both ext4 and NTFS partitions could not reproduce the problem.
