Checked the same version (2:7.2.079-1ubuntu5) and it does not crash.

it will not work, because my synaptics touchpad will not be recognized. I must 
to write xorg.conf manualy, because ubuntu thinks that media keys are mouse 
buttons
In hardy everything works perfect.
