[Bug 341898] Re: MythTV Frontend does not work with RADEON DRI

2009-08-20 Thread oblong
Thanks to everybody who helped on this. My report is for Ubuntu 9.04
with Mythbuntu 9.04 using Radeon 9200 (RX280) using the open source
radeon driver (I think; I uninstalled fglrx with: sudo apt-get remove
--purge xorg-driver-fglrx).

For me, adding 'export XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS="1"' to /etc/mythtv
/session-settings didn't help. But inserting:

export XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS="1"
into the file:
/usr/share/mythtv/mythfrontend.sh

did work.

[Bug 1803604]

2020-11-27 Thread oblong
Hopefully not confusing things by adding this information... I use
LibreOffice "E-mail as PDF" a lot. After about a fortnight of not having
used it, when it worked fine, today I tried again.

Linux Mint 19.3 MATE; Thunderbird 68.10.0; LibreOffice 6.0.7.3.
LO Tools|Options|Internet|E-mail program field is blank (and has always been
like that).

The Thunderbird compose window opened, but there was no attachment. No
improvement after closing/restarting LO, Thunderbird or restarting Mint.

kern.log has:

Nov 27 14:51:03 bob-mint kernel: [ 1934.824706] audit: type=1400

denied_mask="r" fsuid=1000 ouid=0

LO has no problem exporting the PDF and Thunderbird can manually attach
it.

Caja 1.22.2 right-click Send to...E-mail works as expected.

If I run "libreoffice --writer" from the terminal there are no error
messages there when doing the E-mail as PDF, but again no attachment
appears.

The only thing I was brave enough to change, as the log mentioned it, was to
change the permission of:
/home/bob/.config/libreoffice/4/user/uno_packages/cache/uno_packages.pmap
to 777. Made no difference.

Not sure what it all means!

[Bug 1803604]

2021-01-19 Thread oblong
I noticed a couple of days ago (17th or 18th Jan 2021) that Send e-mail
as PDF started to work again. Presumably some update fixed things. So
that's great!

(Linux Mint MATE 19.3, Thunderbird 68.10.0, LibreOffice Version: 6.0.7.3
- all those versions unchanged.)

[Bug 541492] Re: MASTER: [i845] GPU lockup (apport-crash) (Should KMS be blacklisted?)

2010-10-01 Thread oblong
System/hardware:
10.04 (lucid) 2.6.32-25-generic

1024x768

$ lspci|grep "VGA"
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82845G/GL[Brookdale-G]/GE
Chipset Integrated Graphics Device (rev 03)

This reproduces the problem consistently (gnome-screensaver is
installed):

System|Preferences|Screensaver.

By default, AntSpotlight is selected. After a couple of seconds the
screen goes blank, sometimes with vertical zebra stripes.

syslog contains:

Oct 2 12:26:41 ubuntu-desktop kernel: [ 5531.425838]
[drm:i915_gem_entervt_ioctl] *ERROR* Reenabling wedged hardware, good luck
Oct 2 12:26:41 ubuntu-desktop kernel: [ 5531.740027]
[drm:i915_hangcheck_elapsed] *ERROR* Hangcheck timer elapsed... GPU hung
Oct 2 12:26:41 ubuntu-desktop kernel: [ 5531.740038] render error detected,
EIR: 0x
Oct 2 12:26:41 ubuntu-desktop kernel: [ 5531.740880]
[drm:i915_do_wait_request] *ERROR* i915_do_wait_request returns -5 (awaiting
4120 at 1135)
Oct 2 12:26:43 ubuntu-desktop kernel: [ 5533.792017] [drm:i915_gem_idle]
*ERROR* hardware wedged

So after a reboot (pressing the power button seems to more-or-less
cleanly shutdown), at GRUB, I've pressed 'e' to edit and after "quiet
splash" I've added "i915.modetest=1" (no quotes).

After that, I can go to the screen saver preferences and there is no
black screen/"crash". Screensaver comes in after the specified time and
works, probably slowly, though.

However, I then realised that "modetest" should have been "modeset". So, not
surprisingly,
syslog reports:

kernel: [ 18.768163] i915: Unknown parameter `modetest'

If I use modeset=0, or modeset=1, then the blanking/"crash" still
happens when I go to the screensaver preferences.

So, modetest=0 or modetest=1 (either one avoids the blanking) is doing
*something*. But what, and why?

Anyway, I'm happy to live with this until the official release of
Maverick, which hopefully will solve things.

[Bug 1094218] Re: lsb_release crashed with IOError in getstatusoutput(): [Errno 10] No child processes (called by teamviewerd)

2013-08-13 Thread oblong
I initially did the permission fix per comment #86; that solved the
problem (I was getting the error at boot time; 12.04 LTS; TeamViewer 8
installed).

Then I read (and actually understood #89, so I undid the permission
change, ran Update Manager, noticed that lsb (4.0-0ubuntu20.3) was
there, and updated.

No error on reboot!

Thanks to all who worked on this.

[Bug 562027] Re: [ooo-build] OOo QuickStarter: unable to shutdown / reboot / logout when quickstarter is active

2010-10-15 Thread oblong
I can confirm that the fix from panticz.de (#67) seems to work for me
(although I did the edit manually). (Maverick 10.10, 2.6.35-22-generic,
upgraded from 10.4, OOo: OOO320m19 (Build:9505) ooo-build 3.2.1.4,
Ubuntu package 1:3.2.1-7ubuntu1)

However, as the fix changes the value to false in:

   false

what are any other effects of disabling "DocumentStoreUIEnabled"?
