Yes there is no crash report associated with the failure to start. I just installed a fresh system on another machine and it's working fine there. But still not working on my laptop. [Bug 577637] [NEW] Burning ISO DVD image hangs drive
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: brasero When right clicking and writing a DVD image, the burn proceeds normally but once complete, the disk type changes from blank to a movie and half a dozen dialogs pop up. I confirm that disabling ALL plugins did NOT stop the runaway problem. However, completely removing the gedit-plugins package did stop the problem from occuring. When quitting gedit with all plugins disabled and the gedit-plugins package removed, the CPU usage spikes briefly to 200% on my system then falls off when gedit exits. [Bug 492631] [NEW] Function key for suspect breaks if used while screen blanked
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: hal Lenovo T61 Fn-F4 suspend breaks if used while the screen save has blanked the screen. [Bug 541603] [NEW] Time to charge increases instead of decreases for ultrabay battery
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager When an ultrabay battery is inserted, a reasonable time estimate is given to completely charge the battery. As time goes on, the time left to charge the battery increases, not decreases. Example, the battery was inserted with 0.0% and had 1.5 hours to charge. The battery is now at 49% with 11 hours left to charge. The device information page also lists the Charge rate, which for this case started at 25W but now is reporting 1.4W, which is ultimately the source of the problem. The capacity of this battery is at 100% (30.3Wh vs. design of 29.2Wh). The system is a Lenovo T61. [Bug 471688] [NEW] network-manager panel icon does not show connected
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: network-manager After a very long wait, the network-manager finally found the wireless site it connects to often. The spinner never spun during connecting. The notification system popped up a notification that the connection was established but the icon had never changed appearance once during the process. The was directly following a cold boot. This is not repeatable and normally the icon spins while connecting then shows signal strength once connected. This is the release version network-manager included with a fresh install of Karmic. [Bug 23835] Re: lilo + lvm2 don't work following upgrade to breezy
I don't think it has anything to do with a newer lilo. I had sometimes problems with my system that forced me to rerun lilo. I have all my partitions except the swap under LVM, including / (and no specific partition for /boot). It worked perfectly for ages, and now I get the same error: bateleur:~# lilo Warning: '/proc/partitions' does not match '/dev' directory structure. Name change: '/dev/dm-8' -> '/dev/mapper/gobelet-backup' device-mapper: table ioctl failed: No such device or address Fatal: device-mapper: dm_task_run(DM_DEVICE_TABLE) failed But I run lilo from etch (package version 1:22.6.1-7), which has entered the archive for nearly 9 months (see http://packages.qa.debian.org/l/lilo.html). -- lilo + lvm2 don't work following upgrade to breezy https://launchpad.net/bugs/23835 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
