[Bug 358090] [NEW] Pidgin crashes due to Google Talk protocol.
Public bug reported: Running Ubuntu Jaunty Beta. Using Pidgin 1.2.5.5-1ubuntu6. Recently ran dist-upgrade, noticed that Pidgin was one of the programs receiving an update. After rebooting, went to run Pidgin and it crashed. Not a messy crash, just the program closing as if I had done so myself. After multiple attempts, I managed to set it to offline mode, and disable all of my accounts. Re-activating them one by one, the MSN protocol accounts work just fine, while the Google Talk accounts cause it to crash upon activation. [Bug 39413] Re: ubuntu doesn't notice when running on battery
This is happening for me, too. The behaviour seems to be pretty consistently that: a) When I am running on battery power with reasonable energy, gnome- power-manager does not recognize that I am on battery. This is confirmed because when I change the power management settings to "always show icon", as opposed to "show icon when battery is present", the plug icon shows up -- indicating no battery but instead AC power. b) When I get to low battery, suddenly the power-manager icon reappears and the management settings kick in, including power saving features like dimming screen. Also, with a recent update, my sound has disappeared. I am not sure if this is related or not, since people seem to be suggesting this could be a HAL issue. -- ubuntu doesn't notice when running on battery https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/39413 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 641479] Re: Surround Sound hisstles (hiss + whistle) when the volume is changed
Was searching to find a solution to this. Came across the bug report, then came across a blog post that got rid of my "hisstle." [Bug 400485] Re: Empathy sounds not in default ubuntu theme
Running an updated Maverick and the issue is still there for me. So far as I know, the issue has never been with incoming messages when the window isn't focused. The only other sound included is the "contact comes online" sound, which is a duplication of Pidgin's online sound. After that, there are no sounds even if you enable them. I don't get any notification sound when I speak in a focused chat, when a contact speaks to me in a focused chat, or when a contact goes offline. [Bug 445849] Re: Highpitched rattling like sound with 5.1 surround configuration
Running Natty Beta 2 and experiencing a similar problem, though it seems to be slightly different than the original description. My 5.1 surround sound system seems to rattle only when my volume is lower than the maximum; so long as I keep it on max and adjust the volume of individual applications I do not hear the rattle. Is there some way to resolve this on Natty? My driver is an ALC888. [Bug 448533] Re: Banshee (sometimes) freezes on start playing
This behaviour is definitely not a result of the sound indicator extension, because I didn't even have it installed when I first moved over to Maverick, and I have been experiencing this issue since. I also don't know that the behaviour of my banshee is really a duplicate of the original poster, or the behaviour mentioned throughout this bug report, because I am unable to play any song. When I start banshee, the entire interface is unresponsive, and then compiz turns it dark to due unresponsiveness. Running banshee without dbus successfully solves the problem. There is no opportunity to play one or two songs, and it does not work if I start it a second time during a session. Banshee simply does not work for me unless I run --disable-dbus. -- Banshee (sometimes) freezes on start playing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/448533 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
