[Bug 382379] Re: pdftops CUPS filter has several problems
Hi, my report here applies for Ubuntu Jaunty with HP Laserjet 4050 over JetDirect (Network). I have the latest packages installed, as explained in this thread: dpkg -l cups cups 1.3.9-17ubuntu3.2Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - server dpkg -l poppler-utils poppler-utils0.10.5-1ubuntu2.2PDF utilitites (based on libpoppler) Following problems: (1) When I print something, lets assume only text from openoffice, it gets printed fine, but a message appears on the printer's display: "40 EIO 1 FEHLERH UBERTRAGUNG" (I have german printer). I found Bug No 229981 that seems to be similar. (2) I printed the content of a website to .pdf (http://www.tagesschau.de/schlusslicht/ubahnphilosophie100.html) using the above mentioned versions of cups and poppler. The file is 900 kb large. Printing it from Evince generates a 9 MB print job which takes three minutes to print, but the font is being converted to bitmaps. So it looks awful (see attached scan). This also happened with an EasyJet travel itinerary. (no 40 EIO error) (3) I printed the content of the website directly to the 4050 printer, went much faster and the fonts are properly printed. (no 40 EIO error) I still feel that the whole printing thing needs some tweaking. I can not rely on my Ubuntu to print a scanned A4 page or a 80 page pdf document. However I can with WinXP. I hope this will be fixed. ** Attachment added: "pdf-printing.tif" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/28487053/pdf-printing.tif -- pdftops CUPS filter has several problems https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/382379 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 355801] [NEW] Printing (HP LJ) slow/fails
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 9.04 beta 32bit Live-CD (the same happens under fully patched ubuntu 8.10 64bit) HP Laserjet 2200, connected via USB. The printer is functional (error does not appear under Windows) I want to print a .jpg picture or .pdf. When I print a document or page with picture data (.jpg, .pdf from eye of gnome, gimp, firefox ...) the print job is scheduled (symbol in notification area, ~3000 kB data) and the LED on the printer starts flashing. Sometimes it keeps blinking for 10 Minutes, sometimes additional red LED appears and printer has to be restarted. But nothing is printed. The same .jpg File or .pdf on Windows, with same printer and computer takes less than 10 seconds to start. Additional Notes: 1) With older Ubuntu versions (8.04, maybe 8.10 when released, don't remember) printing worked fine (as on windows) 2) No CPU or Memory load 3) This is !very! annoying. If you can't print out a scan or .pdf. I am happy to provide debug information, but I am not sure where to look for it. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Printing (HP LJ) slow/fails https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/355801 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 959483] Re: The Kubuntu 12.04 Power Manager does not detect changes in the charging and discharging of the battery
I might be affected as well. I have a Toshiba NB550D. Kubuntu 12.04. What I observe: 1) Charger plugged in, charging, showing "charging" 2) Take off the low voltage plug from the mobile computer directly -> correctly detected 3) Plug back in -> correctly detected 4) Take off the mains plug (low voltage plug to computer stays connected) -> does not detect 5) Take off the low voltage plug -> Still not detected This is reproducible. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to powerdevil in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/959483 Title: The Kubuntu 12.04 Power Manager does not detect changes in the charging and discharging of the battery To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/powerdevil/+bug/959483/+subscriptions -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

I upgraded my Kubuntu to 11.10, and the high resolution splash screen shows as it should. Also the passphrase prompt when using LUKS. I did not reinstall video driver, Ati fglx still used. [Bug 740011] Re: Natty: the driver sp5100_tco prevents PC startup
The behavior I reported 1st May (high-res splash screen broken and message displayed) appears to be connected to fglrx. On a netbook with AMD C-50 APU (Radeon 6250) I can reversibly (already tested three times) restore the high-res splash by disabling the fglrx driver. My theory (correct me if I am wrong): 1) Video driver breaks high res splash screen 2) Messages that are shown do always occur, but are hidden with high-res splash. I am using luks full system encryption so there is a password prompt after grub. Without fglrx the input is very nice, but with fglrx the splash is already broken and the prompt is console like. "TCO timer" message appears after password input. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/740011 Title: Natty: the driver sp5100_tco prevents PC startup To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/740011/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 355801] Re: Printing (HP LJ) slow/fails
Please go to System -> Administration -> Synaptic Package Manager Look for libgutenprint2 and check the exact version. My 64bit has 5.2.5-0ubuntu1, my 32bit has 5.2.5-0ubuntu1.1. So this is the update you most probably need. But it has not been distributed yet. Thats why I asked before. But maybe between uploading (what Till Kamppeter did) and fully distributed it takes a month???
