[Bug 214041] Re: NFS mounting hangs instead of returning with permission denied

2008-12-07 Thread mike503
I am having an issue I do not know if this is related, but I have a
server that uses NFS lightly, it has just broken now after an upgrade to
intrepid.

I have 6 client machines to a FreeBSD NFS server running NFS v3 over
TCP.

After an hour or two, NFS just starts hanging and cannot recover. I can
umount -l /home, but it will never let me remount. Can't find anything
in the client or server logs that is relevant as to why.

My dpkg list is identical on all 6 servers, all the configs I compared
are identical too (well besides for server specific info) so I don't
know what could be the reason why only 1 of the 6 seems to be having the
issue. I downgraded the kernel from linux-image-2.6.27-10-server to
linux-image-2.6.27-7-server, still doesn't matter.

I'll pay someone to figure this out ASAP. This is wrecking my hosting
business right now... mike503 AT gmail.com

[Bug 273075] Re: MP4Box buffer overflow detected

2009-06-06 Thread mike503
Not afaik. I'm still waiting. I have a custom compiled gpac 0.4.5-1 and
it works fine against the ubuntu libraries, but I had to compile the
gpac (mp4box) myself. It seems to have fixed it.

libgpac-dev 0.4.4-0.3ubuntu4
libgpac0.4.40.4.4-0.3ubuntu4
my-gpac0.4.5-1

Can this package's sponsors please push a newer version of the entire
thing out?

[Bug 273075] Re: MP4Box buffer overflow detected

2009-06-06 Thread mike503
I don't understand what xmlrpc has to do with gpac... at least the gpac
package, maybe the gpac libs need it, but that's quite odd.

Sounds like the xmlrpc bug has a fix already for it, so why can't we get
both of them pushed through?

[Bug 112937] Re: vmware server will not connect remotely

2009-05-29 Thread mike503
Does not work using VMware server 1.0.9 downloaded from vmware directly.

It compiles, using the vmware-any-any-update or vmware-update for the
kernel and such. However, remote connectivity still triggers the PAM
errors.

I have tried on both 9.04 and 8.10 Ubuntu 64-bit, roughly the same
message on both. I can resolve the pam_unix2.so not being found but it
still is messed up. What is odd is it seems to be looking for @include
even though I've commented it out in all the various pam files that it
is referenced in, so I do not know where it is inheriting this from!

[Bug 112937] Re: vmware server will not connect remotely

2009-05-31 Thread mike503
I will say this

I tried 9.04, could not get it to work. Same with 8.10.

However, I did 8.04.2, and it worked, out of the box, without even
requiring the vmware patch / vmware-update-update thingy. I can connect
remotely to it too, without tweaking pam at all even.

This is vmware server 1.0.9 downloaded from vmware.com, not using any
packages.

Fresh Ubuntu 8.04 x64 box, with only this ran:

apt-get build-essential libpam-modules ia32-libs xinetd

(and all the dependencies)

If only we could get the -current- version of Ubuntu to behave, now.

Please someone check this out!

I would try, but my gitosis repository is actually -extremely-
important, and if I try this out on production I would be raked over hot
coals (and I have no development setup to try this on)

It should be a -very- simple fix to test.

2009-05-04 Thread mike503
Here is the debianb ug:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=508469

And yes - changing the shebang to force python2.5 fixes this, thank god.

This should be marked as CRITICAL as out of the box gitosis is broken on
jaunty now.

I am not sure if the fix to the debian package will resolve this or not,
but please, can someone grab it and get it into the ubuntu repos?

[Bug 273075] Re: MP4Box buffer overflow detected

2009-01-25 Thread mike503
I don't want to be rude but there is a workaround out there. Is it that
hard to get it fixed and in the repo? I'd do it myself if these packages
weren't such a pain and I had access. Right now I'm stuck in limbo
having to hold back certain packages and having to compile some on my
own...

I wish there was a full-on this-package-includes-everything with ffmpeg,
mp4box, gpac, all that - with all compile options enabled.

[Bug 306016] Re: nfs client broken since 2.6.28-2-generic upgrade

2009-03-26 Thread mike503
This has been an issue for me for a long time using intrepid too.

I have not upgraded to jaunty yet.

Kernel versions on only *one* machine seem to not start nlockmgr.

broken machine:

[r...@lvs01 etc]# rpcinfo -p
   program vers proto port
102 tcp111 portmapper
1000241 udp 64054 status
1000241 tcp 49410 status
102 udp111 portmapper

good machine:

102 udp111 portmapper
1000241 udp 26775 status

1000213 tcp 17290 nlockmgr
1000214 tcp 17290 nlockmgr

same identical configs in /etc that matter, same everything. only one
machine out of 6 exhibited this behavior.

looks like adding "nolock" fixed this. but i was hoping the 2.6.28
update in intrepid would fix it and it still hasn't. the last stable
kernel i had was 2.6.24-16-server. since then every kernel has had this
issue just on this one box (all identically configured, identical dpkg
lists even - i dpkg -l and md5 them and i keep them identical...)

PLEASE have this fixed asap and if possible push it back to intrepid
until jaunty becomes the new production.

[Bug 306016] Re: nfs client broken since 2.6.28-2-generic upgrade

2009-03-27 Thread mike503
I'm using the latest Intrepid packages of everything. NFS seems to work
great on everything but one box and one box only, still. Using the
"nolock" mount flag workaround appeared to fix it at first, but wound up
freezing up again after a while.

I had to go back to using 2.6.24-16-server on that one machine and it's
okay. Any of the newer kernels don't work.

I have not tried Jaunty kernels yet. I did try linux-
image-2.6.28-2-server_2.6.28-2.3_amd64.deb which might be one of the
earlier jaunty ones a few months ago with no luck either.

Same fstab, same /etc/default config files, same dpkg list (identical
md5 hashes), same mount strings, same network settings, etc.

Odd that I can't get a newer kernel on this one single machine to work.
I'm hoping when Jaunty becomes stable I can upgrade everything and be
okay.

Jorge: that bug is marked as fixed, and the only bug that I can tell
from the gitosis package in 9.04 is the shebang. Changing that by itself
manually has everything working properly still.

According to all the other notes the Debian package works great too, not
sure why it can't be promoted/etc

roughly normal

Using kernel 2.6.22-19-server now, and still an issue. Only exotic thing
here might be that I am mounting /home using iscsi+ocfs2
