[Bug 214041] Re: NFS mounting hangs instead of returning with permission denied
I am having an issue I do not know if this is related, but I have a server that uses NFS lightly, it has just broken now after an upgrade to intrepid. I have 6 client machines to a FreeBSD NFS server running NFS v3 over TCP. After an hour or two, NFS just starts hanging and cannot recover. I can umount -l /home, but it will never let me remount. Can't find anything in the client or server logs that is relevant as to why. My dpkg list is identical on all 6 servers, all the configs I compared are identical too (well besides for server specific info) so I don't know what could be the reason why only 1 of the 6 seems to be having the issue. I downgraded the kernel from linux-image-2.6.27-10-server to linux-image-2.6.27-7-server, still doesn't matter. I'll pay someone to figure this out ASAP. This is wrecking my hosting business right now... mike503 AT gmail.com -- NFS mounting hangs instead of returning with permission denied https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/214041 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I don't understand what xmlrpc has to do with gpac... at least the gpac package, maybe the gpac libs need it, but that's quite odd. [Bug 112937] Re: vmware server will not connect remotely
Does not work using VMware server 1.0.9 downloaded from vmware directly. It compiles, using the vmware-any-any-update or vmware-update for the kernel and such. However, remote connectivity still triggers the PAM errors. I have tried on both 9.04 and 8.10 Ubuntu 64-bit, roughly the same message on both. I can resolve the pam_unix2.so not being found but it still is messed up. [Bug 306016] Re: nfs client broken since 2.6.28-2-generic upgrade
I'm using the latest Intrepid packages of everything. NFS seems to work great on everything but one box and one box only, still. Using the "nolock" mount flag workaround appeared to fix it at first, but wound up freezing up again after a while. I had to go back to using 2.6.24-16-server on that one machine and it's okay. Any of the newer kernels don't work. I have not tried Jaunty kernels yet. I did try linux- image-2.6.28-2-server_2.6.28-2.3_amd64.deb which might be one of the earlier jaunty ones a few months ago with no luck either. Same fstab, same /etc/default config files, same dpkg list (identical md5 hashes), same mount strings, same network settings, etc. Odd that I can't get a newer kernel on this one single machine to work. I'm hoping when Jaunty becomes stable I can upgrade everything and be okay. -- nfs client broken since 2.6.28-2-generic upgrade https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/306016 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
