[Bug 934497] Re: Lubuntu-restricted-extras not listed

2012-02-18 Thread michaelrawson
Hi Fabio, thanks for reporting this bug.

However, lubuntu-restricted-extras is not a package that is marked as a
desktop app (it isn't, it's a metapackage for various odd/restricted
formats). Therefore, LSC will not show it, and this is the intended
behaviour.

If you do wish to install command-line or utility packages via LSC,
please click the configuration icon in the top right, then enable
"Expert Mode". However, I recommend synaptic or apt-get rather than this
method, as the more packages LSC has to deal with, the slower it gets.
We're working on this.

Please continue to report any more bugs, they are very valuable
feedback.

[Bug 916829] [NEW] Loop upon launching in Lubuntu

2012-01-15 Thread michaelrawson
Public bug reported:

Using the most up-to-date release of Lubuntu, lightdm loops when it is
run, either by default, or with 'sudo service lightdm start'.

The loop consists of brief flashes of text, (too fast to read, but it
looks like the usual 'starting bluetooth[OK]' thing), then my mouse
appears, then my disk reads furiously, then my mouse disappears, and
back to square one.

I don't really know what's causing it, as (presumably the same version)
in Ubuntu it works fine.

Debugging help welcome.

[Bug 923344] [NEW] Mouse cursor theme

Public bug reported:

Not sure if this should be in default-settings or artwork. Please move

Following some discussion on the mailing list, could we have a new
cursor theme please? The current one is 'especially unattractive'. An
entirely new cursor theme is not required, I find the default white dmz
theme to be fine. Alternatively, an explanation of the current mouse
cursor would suffice. (i.e "it's lighter").

Two things:

-Unless I'm much mistaken, the 'software-center' package refers to the

[Bug 904864] [NEW] long_desc returns same value as short_desc

2011-12-15 Thread michaelrawson
Public bug reported:

We are using apt_pkg as part of Lubuntu Software Centre, however we have
a minor problem.

Using an instance of PackageRecords(), the value for a package's
long_desc and short_desc fields are the same. The piece of code we are
using is attached. (Look at the function from line 500 onwards)

python-apt:

  Version table:

I'm actually using Mint 12 to submit this bug report, but this is a problem on
Lubuntu 11.10 too.
If we're just getting it wrong, call us idiots, then tell us how to use it. :)

Hi AJ, essentially, there's been a slight problem, but I've fixed it and
it should work now if you have the lubuntu-desktop PPA. If you don't

[Bug 959867] Re: lubuntu-software-center crashed with TypeError in __init__(): __init__() takes exactly 3 arguments (1 given)

2012-03-25 Thread michaelrawson
I'm not in charge of the packaging, so I can't help with a debdiff, but
if it helps Julien, who is undoubtedly busy, I've attached a patch for
the problem.

** Patch added: "lsc.patch"

[Bug 964073] Re: Show desktop icon should be movable, definitely not on top of BFB

2012-03-25 Thread michaelrawson
** Changed in: unity (Ubuntu)
 Assignee: (unassigned) => michaelrawson (michaelrawson76)

** Changed in: unity
 Assignee: (unassigned) => michaelrawson (michaelrawson76)

** Description changed:

Currently when you enable the "Show Desktop" option in ccsm experimental
it is positioned above the dash icon. However, as per the design the
dash icon should always be at the top.

- Also The "Show Desktop" icon should be movable to where the user wishes,
- certainly not fixed atop the er..."ubuntu button" (?).
+ Also The "Show Desktop" icon should be movable to where the user wishes.

  System Info:
  Ubuntu 12.04, Unity 5.8, Compiz 0.9.7.2

I'm making a branch to fix this.

[Bug 894112] Re: Precise Pangolin - Please include ubuntuforums.org in the slideshow

2012-03-05 Thread michaelrawson
Please put it on. I for one feel a little annoyed when I contribute to
the Ubuntu Forums, then we get ignored for a newer, shinier version on
the installer.
