[Bug 89517] Re: Synaptics cPad (touchpad) isnt detected

2009-06-20 Thread Maciek
I'm pretty sure I'm hitting the same bug on a different laptop model.
I'm attaching the files requested in the DebuggingTouchpadDetection
wikki page. This is on Jaunty, and my touchpad does not work at all.

[Bug 347577] [NEW] add/remove , display , monitor settings crash the system. acpi problem

2009-03-23 Thread maciek
Public bug reported:

Hi, I've been using Ubuntu for some time and I must say it is really
a great OS, unfortunately I have encountered a few problems.

I have Jaunty installed and I'm using an Asus X50 GL laptop

When I'm trying to launch the Add/Remove, Display or Monitor Settings
application
the system crashes, the screen just freezes and the graphics go
wrong in some places. apport won't launch.
I didn't have this problem when using Interpid, the system didn't crash
though I am/was unable to change the brightness of the display.

An additional problem is that I am unable to turn the laptop off. When I select
shut down, the OS closes normally, but the laptop won't shut down. Restart works
perfectly fine. I've read a lot of comments on this and it is said that this is
a problem with acpi
drivers, when using asus laptops.

Can You help me please?
Even with those bugs Ubuntu is still a lot better than Vista, but then again
having them
fixed would make my life a lot easier.

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 131385] Re: pulaudio excessively drains laptop battery

2007-09-13 Thread maciek
Yes, but the load was observed without any sound being played, thus
nothing was being resampled. For me it seems as if even when no real
sound samples are sent to the card, there is some activity which
contributes largely to draining the battery.

After installing latest pulseaudio package and staring the server the

Re: [Bug 134680] Re: Sleep and Hibernate issues in Gutsy on Thinkpad x41

2007-11-06 Thread Maciek
Olaf,

(and anyone else who has run into this bug)

You probably don't need to reinstall Feisty. Since this is a kernel
issue, if you start Gutsy with the old kernel (2.6.20.16), hibernate and
suspend should work (hibernate does for me; I don't use suspend). I did
a vanilla upgrade, so I'm pretty sure that the old kernel is still
available by default (although if Ubuntu is your only OS, I think it's
configured to skip the grub boot screen so you may need to do some grub
editing to start the old kernel).

[Bug 564376]

2011-11-24 Thread maciek
I've added dmesg output from Ubuntu 11.04 which is not affected with the bug
(at least on my laptop - Thinkpad T60, 2623P2U, X1300) and Fedora 15 which does
have the problem. Unless I missed something, the only relevant difference is
DRM version reported, which is 2.8 for Ubuntu and 2.10 for Fedora (how come
that's possible is another question).
So far, the following does not help:
- disp_priority=1
- agpmode=1
- gartsize=64
- dynclks=0

[Bug 564376]

2011-11-24 Thread maciek
I played a bit with power_profile settings and it turns our that whenever
profile is set to high, mid, sound stuttering is pronounced. Yet, once set to
low, stuttering is gone (or unnoticeable).
If anyone wants to try (adjust path to suit your hardware):
echo low > /sys/class/drm/card0/device/power_profile
Then the actual frequency can be verified by:
cat /sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/radeon_pm_info

Also dynpm power_method does not really work, there was another bug
report recenty that the frequency is never lowered if dynpm is used.

Additionally, given the recent fuss about pcie_aspm=force (and possible
effect on PCIe), sound stuttering is present regardless of the setting.

> There's a difference not only in board frequencies, but also the PCIE lanes
> number (0 means full throttle, or is "more performant" than 1 I guess ??).

The PCIe lanes information seems to be read from the card itself (at least
that's for RV515), look here:
http://lxr.linux.no/#linux+v2.6.39/drivers/gpu/drm/radeon/r300.c#L553
While 1 is understandable (PCIe x1), 0 value is confusing and I can't tell if
that'x x16 or not. Maybe one of the driver authorsa can provide some input.

I've failed to locate any docs that contain information on the registers
exposed on the PCI.

Not really. Worked great with UMS. Compiz with way more advanced effects than
fade in/out was smooth, same for ioquake running at decent framerate.

[Bug 578342]

2011-11-25 Thread maciek
I've added dmesg output from Ubuntu 11.04 which is not affected with the bug
(at least on my laptop - Thinkpad T60, 2623P2U, X1300) and Fedora 15 which does
have the problem. Unless I missed something, the only relevant difference is
DRM version reported, which is 2.8 for Ubuntu and 2.10 for Fedora (how come
that's possible is another question).
So far, the following does not help:
- disp_priority=1
- agpmode=1
- gartsize=64
- dynclks=0

[Bug 760131] Re: Power consumption raised significantly in natty

2011-06-14 Thread maciek
I'm running a Thinkpad T60, T5600, X1300 and checked on Fedora 15. They have
both new powertop (~1.98) and more options enabled in the kernel. Anyway, I can
get ~17W power usage there (kernel 2.6.38.7) which is slightly more what I got
on Fedora 14 (2.6.35.13). So the laptop has boasting 3:40 minutes of battery
time. On Ubuntu 11.04 it's sadly 2:40.
Anyway, I guess it does make sense to compare the kernel configs at some point.

[Bug 837846] [NEW] Segmentation fault in OpenJDK 6 JRE running Eclipse with FDT plugin

2011-08-30 Thread Maciek
Public bug reported:

When running Eclipse with the FDT plugin ( http://fdt.powerflasher.com/
), I see intermittent segmentation faults. Unfortunately, I can't see
any patterns in the various crashes. This happens every couple of weeks,
and there is no obvious patterns (though it typically happens when I'm
trying to do something in the UI while another update is still in
progress).

I don't know if the attached log is useful by itself, but since this is
a JVM crash, I thought I would submit an issue.

[Bug 95436] Re: Upgrade Edgy to Feisty hangs

2007-04-14 Thread Maciek Gajewski
Have similar today when upgrading Kubuntu 6.10 to 7.04-beta. using
KubuntuDistUpgrade. It downloaded +1000 packages, and then during
upgrade, when it came to openssl, upgrader opened the termial window
with text-based message box from openssl package about services that
needs to be restarted. I've tried to press the 'ok' button on the
message box, but without effect. Upgrader hanged. I've killed -9 'em,
and now i have broken, semi-upgraded system.

[Bug 96053] Re: can't install kubuntu 7.04 beta

2007-04-15 Thread Maciek Gajewski
Installation works if you select 'English' in first step, so this bug is
somehow dependand on localization. I have two hard disk - one IDE and one SATA
- this may have something to do with this.
A simple workaround for this bug is to select 'english' in first step, then
proceed to step 4, let the installer read disk layout, and then get back to
step 1 to change language to 'polish'. Also, when you cancel installation and
restart it again, the bug is no more. So it happeneds only when you run
installer for the first time after boot, and set language to 'polish'.

Please note that such a bug in final release would be a blocker here in
Poland.

[Bug 96053] Re: can't install kubuntu 7.04 beta

2007-04-15 Thread Maciek Gajewski
After some testing I started to realize that the bug has nothing to do
with localization. The disk detection sometimes just work, and sometimes
not.

[Bug 96053] can't install kubuntu 7.04 beta

2007-03-25 Thread Maciek Gajewski
Public bug reported:

Couldn't install Feisty's Beta.
This is what I did:

1. Downloaded and burned kubuntu-7.04-beta-desktop-i386.iso
2. Booted from CD
3. Clicked on 'Install' icon
4. Choose: Language: Polish, then default keyboard layout and timezone
5. In step 4 of 6 installer asked me (loose translation form polish): "do you
want to change disk layout?". There were only the question, no answer possible.
Only thing I could do was to cancel the installation.

I didn't try another installation settings.

** Affects: Ubuntu

[Bug 442300] Re: [Karmic] Can't configure wired manual IP settings

2009-11-09 Thread Maciek Gajewski
I have the same problem on Kubuntu. I created wired connection in KDE-
ish configurator, but on boot NM lways uses Auto=eth0 connection. I have
to switch manually to preconfigured connection to get desired settings.

There is a checkbox 'system connection' in NM configuration dialog, but it's
always grayed out.
My /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections is empty.

[Bug 1809486] [NEW] mysql-server-5.7 overwrites a file from mysql-client-5.6

2018-12-21 Thread Maciek Pazurkiewicz
Public bug reported:

dist-upgrade of my system failed with the following error:

Unpacking mysql-server-5.7 (5.7.22-0ubuntu0.16.04.1) ...
dpkg: error processing archive
/var/cache/apt/archives/mysql-server-5.7_5.7.22-0ubuntu0.16.04.1_amd64.deb
(--unpack):
trying to overwrite '/usr/bin/mysql_plugin', which is also in package
mysql-client-5.6 5.6.33-0ubuntu0.14.04.1
dpkg-deb: error: subprocess paste was killed by signal (Broken pipe)

Indeed, in Debian mysql releases the offending file was moved from the client
package to the server package. This looks like a relevant commit:

$ git show --stat 27d750
commit 27d7503d03900ee1d66ea21e72c6824ffbfa3659
Author: Otto Kekäläinen
Date: Wed Dec 10 18:58:17 2014 +0200

Move mysql_plugin to server package as it controls the server
plugins

 debian/control   | 4 ++--
 debian/mysql-client-5.6.install | 1 -
 debian/mysql-client-5.6.manpages | 1 -
 debian/mysql-server-5.6.install | 1 +
 debian/mysql-server-5.6.manpages | 1 +
 5 files changed, 4 insertions(+), 4 deletions(-)

According to the tags in git repo, the change was released in Debian in
5.6.25-1. For some reason Ubuntu packages for 5.6 having a larger version, e.g.
5.6.33-0ubuntu0.14.04.1 from trusty-updates, do not include the change.

The file move does appear only in Ubuntu's 5.7 package but is not
appropriately reflected in its debian/control file, i.e. Breaks: and
Replaces: stanzas do not include mysql-client-5.6, which should be the
case when moving file(s) from package to package.

** Affects: mysql-5.7 (Ubuntu)

 Status: New

2011-01-08 Thread Maciek G
What does

'drukarka jest w trybie gotowo\u015bci.'

mean in English?

It means "Printer is in ready state." Front panel says the same all the time:
"Ready"
What's more under Windows I can print normally. So I assume something is wrong
with cups or maybe driver from CD attached to printer works incorrectly? (just
a guess).
