[Bug 445123] Re: No GUI option to disable face browser
I find those commens particularly construtive in this context. This bug was implemented with little thought to the fact that it opens a major security hole in the os and prevents it from being used in a large number of corporations (esentially any corporation with a decent security policy). The severity of the action has never been acknowledged by the powers that be. The last two major versions of Ubutnu have seen a number of major issues implemented on a whim that seem to be ignored completly. Between this and a few other "features" like it I've been forced to abandon Ubuntu as an os which is really sad because it had so much promise before karmic. Marking a security vulnerablilty as "Medium" and "Won't Fix" is laughable at best and takes Ubuntu completly out of contention as a corporate OS. -- No GUI option to disable face browser https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/445123 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 445123] Re: No GUI option to disable face browser
So it is your position that a "workaround" for a major security vulnerablitiy is acceptable for a year. [Bug 496093] Re: [lucid] rt2860 frequently fails to connect to mixed mode WPA/WPA2 secured wireless networks
I have to say I'm becoming increasingly irritated with Ubuntu support and starting to have serious doubts about it as a viable platform. First a major security flaw was left unfixed for the entire 6 months of Karmic, now a bug that essentially disables networking on a major percentage of netbooks is marked as Medium? You guys have some whacked priorities. [Bug 443298] Re: Dropping desktop-switcher from karmic
So those of us who use the desktop switcher because we want the normal desktop when running with an external monitor and the netbook desktop when we aren't are supposed to do what now? Also, those of us who were in non-netbook mode when we upgraded to KK are supposed to do what now? Actually I believe they intend for us to wait for 10.4 for a "new" method. [Bug 464924] [NEW] No way to switch desktop modes
Public bug reported: The desktop switcher was dropped last minute from Karmic, apparently without any testing. The ability to switch between desktop modes is now gone. This is a major loss of functionality as I assume that many people use external monitors with their netbooks. The UNR desktop is pretty useless and annoying on a 1680x1050 display and the Ubuntu desktop is not very useful on a 1024x600 display. Without this tool the usefulness of UNR is severely limited. Additionally, when upgrading, the system is left in whatever state it was LAST in. I.e. if you were in desktop mode, you are stuck there with no (simple) way to go back to UNR mode and vice versa. Anyone who upgrades from JJ to KK while in desktop mode will pretty much have lost UNR functionality. ** Affects: unr-meta (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: 9.10 netbook remix ubuntu -- No way to switch desktop modes https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/464924 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
