As of 03-10-2009 06:53 CDT I still have this issue. Running Ubuntu 8.10 x86-64
2.6.27-11-generic SMP
I tried updating Pidgin but there doesn't seem to be a newer release.

I found this
http://www.getdeb.net/app/Pidgin
and installed manually (not the greatest thing) and it resolved the
issue.
Now, when will there be packages in the repository?
