[Bug 245521] [NEW] urls copied from adress bar in firefox-3.0 missing %20

2008-07-04 Thread housetier
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

In its address bar firefox replaces "%20" with " " which is supposed to
increase readability. However, when I copy and paste an url from the
address bar, the spaces are not replaces with "%20" again making the
pasted url useless. People in #firefox on irc.mozilla.com say their
version does in fact put %20 back when copying & pasting the url.

i.e.: opening "http://example.com/url%20with%20space.html"; will show as
"http://example.com/url with space.html" and copying and pasting the
latter will yield "http://example.com/url with space.html" instead of
the expected "http://example.com/url%20with%20space.html";.

What I want it one of two things:

either make FF3 stop replacing %20 with " " as I can easily parse %20 et
al in head

or make it modify the copied text (or modify the text before copying) so
that the clipboard contains a valid and usable url.

This is FF3 version Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9)
Gecko/2008061015 Firefox/3.0 from the hardy package. I don't use ctrl+c
to copy, I just mark the text and paste via middlemouse.

[Bug 245521] Re: urls copied from adress bar in firefox-3.0 missing %20

2008-07-04 Thread housetier
"Try with a new profile"

I did exactly that: I created a new profile and then directly entered
"http://example.com/url%20with%20spaces.html"; into the address bar,
which was then displayed as "http://example.com/url with spaces.html".
Copying and pasting this url into xchat or gvim yielded
"http://example.com/url with spaces.html" again.

"Be specific"

I think I have been specific :)

"Use the terminal"

This is what I am doing, in order to catch any messages. However, there
are no messages from firefox.

"Specific Websites"

This issue is not related to specific websites.

"Crashes" and "Obtain a backtrace from an apport crash report (using gdb)"

Firefox does not crash.

[Bug 301636] Re: alltray does not close gnome-terminal to tray

2008-12-03 Thread housetier
I see the same behavior with firefox: when first launching "alltray
firefox -no-remote -P default" I see firefox's icon in the tray. Once I
click it, firefox's window is displayed and a button is added to the
Window List on my panel. This button then remains regardless of the
state of its window: shown, minimized, closed to tray.

This behavior defeats the purpose of alltray, which in my case was to
unclutter my window list.

[Bug 301636] [NEW] alltray does not close gnome-terminal to tray

2008-11-24 Thread housetier
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: alltray

I start "alltray gnome-terminal" and see the icon in my tray. When I
click the icon, gnome-terminal is shown as expected.

However, when I click on the close button or on the icon again, the
window is not closed to tray; instead it is simply minimized and still
visible in the window list. The icon in the tray area remains and
clicking it does restore the window from its minimized state.

I had expected gnome-terminal to be minimized to tray, so it won't show
in the window list anymore until I restore it by clicking on the icon in
the tray bar.

[Bug 301852] [NEW] bashdb should not depend on emacsen-common, instead it recommend

2008-11-24 Thread housetier
Public bug reported:

In intrepid package bashdb depends on bash (>= 3.1) and emacsen-common.
However, none of the .el scripts in the package seem to be needed for
bashdb to run normally.

I installed the package and deleted the following files:
/usr/lib/emacsen-common/packages/install/bashdb
/usr/lib/emacsen-common/packages/remove/bashdb
/etc/emacs/site-start.d/50bashdb.el
/usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/bashdb/bashdb.el

After that, bashdb still worked as expected. When the scripts are not
needed, emacsen isn't needed as well. Package bashdb should recommend
installation of emacsen-common or emacs but not require its
installation.

[Bug 297688] [NEW] sonata doesn't restore to previous location on screen

2008-11-13 Thread housetier
Public bug reported:

I hide sonata by either clicking the close button of the window or the
tray icon. When I click the tray icon again to restore the window it
does not show up at the previous location. Even when moving it to the
desired location and hiding it does not restore it to that location.

Instead the window is restored to the same but not desired location.

However, this behavior is not reproducible all the time. It happens
often enough to annoy me, but when some condition is met (sonata window
open but behind other windows?), this behavior ceases until I restart my
X session.

This happens with sonata from Ibex.

[Bug 391241] [NEW] closing error dialog (System.IndexOutOfRangeException) closes banshee

2009-06-23 Thread housetier
Public bug reported:

When advancing to the next item in my playlist, banshee will sometimes
display an error message:

"Banshee Encountered a Fatal Error
Array index is out of range"

Banshee keeps playing the song though. The fatality is evident when I
click the "Close" button of the error window: banshee immediately stops
playing and exits.

However, I haven't found a reliable way to replicate this behavior. When
I manually advance to the next song, no errors occur.

[Bug 245685] Re: Account list don't display. Pidgin doesn't work

I can second this bug report:

I start pidgin 1:2.4.3-0ubuntu1~hardy1 from archive.ubuntu.com. There
are no error messages, and pidgin reports status: available. However,
there are also no buddies, not even offline buddies. All groups are
empty.

When I go check my accounts, their protocol is "unknown" ("Unbekannt" in
German). Editing an account trying to re-set the protocol does not
succeed: the dropdown list with the protocols is empty: I cannot select
a protocol.

What puzzles me most, is that it used to work after the update; it's a
recent development.

[Bug 56176] right-click on tray icon gives error message

2006-08-12 Thread housetier
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pygmy

I start pygmy in a terminal window. When I right-click on the tray icon
from pygmy I see the following error message in the termil window:

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/pygmy.py", line 1349, in _motion_cb

  File "/usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/pygmy.py", line 1363, in _remove_timer

pygmy still works, at least I didnt notice anything peculier. The error
message is irritating though.

[Bug 82047] xpat2 needs font, but its package doesn't depend on font package

2007-01-28 Thread housetier
Public bug reported:

Warning: Cannot convert string "xpat2.icon.pm" to type Pixmap

Error: Aborting: no font found

However, the package (http://packages.ubuntu.com/edgy/games/xpat2) gives
no indication which font package might be required. I have a lot of
xfonts-* and ttf-* packages installed, I even installed xfs, but still I
cannot run xpat2.
