[Bug 138009] Re: no display after Kernel 2.6.20-15-generic
Apologies, kernel 2.6.20-16-generic was w/o display. Installation of Nvidia binary drivers was done via Envy. Envy was installed via download and apt-get -- no display after Kernel 2.6.20-15-generic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/138009 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 125400] Re: [MASTER] package openoffice.org-common 2.2.1-5ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Same issues. Experienced during: a) Live CD 1) Using Synaptics Packet Manager and uploaded Universe and Multiverse on Ubuntu mirror 2) Followed Howto: FakeRaid 3) Howto: FakeRaid included apt-get install ubuntu-standard 4) failed to download openoffice packages. -- [MASTER] package openoffice.org-common 2.2.1-5ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/125400 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1] Re: Microsoft has a majority market share
@Pitwalker You are absolutely right, I killed my PC today (hopefully parts replacement was on warranty) as well as two full days of attempting to get Ubuntu to dualboot with Windows XP on SATA RAID0 and an IDE drive. I find it very sad that this little task (installation) took up an extraordinary amount of time where the same process in Windows XP would have taken 20 seconds to load a 3.5" floppy disk into the floppy drive, press F6 to load [Specific Drivers] and choose which SATA RAID0 drive to begin Windows installation. While this is a personal situation, I have found numerous unanswered posts by newbies who JUST wanted to have their cake and eat it. i.e. Dual boot and install with little hassle. To draw an analogy, no point furnishing a house beautifully if you don't own the key to that house. The mantra of "you must backup your data" has to go. It goes against the philosophy of bringing an OS to the people. Microsoft Windows 2000/XP/Vista is about serving the people (with some compromises) They have anticipated and researched well market trends and responded. I would like Ubuntu to do the same. -- Microsoft has a majority market share https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 22107] Re: missing dmraid support needed to access SATA raids
GParted killed my mainboard after it failed to partition my IDE drive which sits as C: together with the SATA RAID0 E: (WINXP Boot) and Ubuntu assigned partitions (/root, /boot, /home and /swap) Previously followed the guides Howto: which left out some VERY important details. 1) That this guide was designed for a single SATA RAID0 system 2) No instruction on how to open the editor to edit the menu.lst Thus: 1) I failed to have GRUB load which instead automatically brought me to Windows XP 2) I ended up doing the entire process listed in the Howto from Step 1 again and again 3) GPart failed to repartition my IDE drive which stores some personal data. AND possibly destroyed it... -- missing dmraid support needed to access SATA raids https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/22107 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
