[Bug 134660] Re: Ralink rt2400 / rt2500 / rt2570 / rt61 / rt73 do not work out of the box in Gutsy/Hardy
I have been successfully using one of these cards for a while now and I think the problems which I experience (much like those others experience) seem to perhaps be due to overheating. When the adapter stops working I unplug it and plug it straight back in and most of the time it kicks back into life. Occasionally it has to cool for a bit first. Hope that helps. [Bug 164300] Edimax wireless network works from live cd but fails after install
Public bug reported: Edimax EW-7318USg I used the live CD to check that all my hardware was supported and it works great. The only hitch is that my network must broadcast the essid. I get a working wpa2psk connection every time I use the live CD. But, every time I install ubuntu and boot into my shiny new system. It will not connect and I get nothing. I've tried all kinds of HOWTOs etc to do with Ralink and SerialMonkey drivers and to be honest I don't understand what the commands are doing but if I follow them through I end up with a machine that won't boot at all. This USB Adapter comes with linux drivers but they are complex as hell to install from source code etc. I would like help to fix this bug properly so that future releases of Ubuntu will support my adapter. Also I know others are using this adapter. I have experience as a Java Developer so I'm no idiot but I've not used linux for some years so back in the days of Mandrake 6 I new my way around. If someone will help me then I will do all I can to get this working rather than chicken out and buy something else. [Bug 144161] Re: Wi-Fi rt73 USB (TP-Link TL-WN321G) doesn't connect
Well problem is I had this bug and I tried various fixes. In the end I think it is something to do with the wireless config not the kernel. For me this bug was fixed by chance. I had it that if I used the live cd then I'd get a connection but if I installed then I could not connect. In fact by chance when I tried to install again my internet connection went down part way through the install. I rebooted into my new system and it all works and has done for a couple of days and through several reboots. I suggest that if anyone with some expertise wants to ask for particular conf files etc I will provide them and we can see why mine now works. Hope I can be of some help.
