[Bug 483850] Re: Ubuntu One Broken
It actually seems to be working fine from this computer at the moment, it's just the transition between two different machines that I think caused the problem. -- Ubuntu One Broken https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/483850 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 483850] Re: Ubuntu One Broken
It seems to be working OK so far; I just need to get used to the way it transfers files. The notification icon, however, is still causing problems as far as I'm aware. The issue seems to occur when it's disconnected while performing an operation in which case the notification icon and the button in the "Ubuntu One" folder show different information and neither will respond to any prompting. Being aware of this issue, however, has prevented it becoming a problem most of the time. -- Ubuntu One Broken https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/483850 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 483850] [NEW] Ubuntu One Broken
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ubuntuone-client The notification icon does not show the same information as the "Connect" box in the Ubuntu One folder, changing various options, such as whether the client connects on startup, does nothing to affect the actual behaviour of the application and synchronisation of files is shaky at best. In addition to this, the client often breaks or crashes without so much as an error message or sign that something is wrong. I made the big mistake of using Ubuntu One to transfer data from my home computer to my system at University. Well, silly me just lost two days' worth of work! This is not good. It seems to decide at random whether to update files to the ones available online, which it did at first, or to use the ones available on the system that is being used which is all well and good up until you connect a new computer with an empty folder to the account. What it has done in this situation is delete all my stored files and now, despite me replacing them with older versions on another hard drive and having the client "update" for quite some time, there is still virtually nothing stored online. This is also not good. I have spent many hours trying to get this to work, which is not a nice experience with approaching deadlines, and now I have to do my work all over again. I am not very happy with this and, for my part, will strongly advise anyone I encounter to avoid this piece of software! [Bug 483850] Re: Ubuntu One Broken
Thanks for the quick reply Joshua. Unfortunately the fact that made the problem so frustrating was that I no longer have access to the other machine and won't have for quite some time, though I have attached the log from the laptop. The main problem, I believe, is not so much in the way of a faulty app but one that doesn't really offer enough feedback as to what it is actually doing; if it did so it would probably remove a great deal of worry and nervous disconnecting and reconnecting from the users. The problem was encountered at about an hour before the posting of the error report, so on around the 16th November, if it's any help. -- Ubuntu One Broken https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/483850 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1311303] Re: Unable to switch desktops using compiz mouse functions
Thanks for getting in touch. I'm using buttons 6 and 7, which on my mouse are on the sides of the scroll wheel. This is without any keyboard modifiers. Using keyboard shortcuts to do the same thing (ctrl+alt+left/right) works as expected whether a window is focussed or not. There's something odd I discovered today while testing things a bit more: it works as expected when the window is minimised, but the problem occurs again where the window is maximised or when it is minimised and snapped to the top left corner. This is rather bizarre, and I wonder whether it may have something to do with the way windows are handled in 14.04. The problem also occurs when there are no active windows and the desktop is not focussed, but since keyboard shortcuts also fail to work in this situation, I suspect this is a different bug. I have updated the bug description accordingly. ** Description changed: Running Ubuntu 14.04 and compiz 0.9.11. [Bug 1311303] Re: Compiz mouse functions mapped to horizontal scrolling buttons do not work
I thought it might have been Gtk related; very many thanks for working on a fix. [Bug 658365] [NEW] No sound in 10.10 Maverick Meerkat
Public bug reported: After a day of smooth running, my sound stopped working without warning. The sound card is the one packaged with the Acer Aspire 6920, though I cant seem to find the model number anywhere. Everything was working perfectly fine yesterday, though something seems to have broken somewhere along the way, similar to as reported here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1572272 . This: https://bugs.launchpad.net/system76/+bug/463874 sounds like the right sort of thing, and may help others, though does not apply in my case. I think it might be an issue with the kernel version, as solved here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1316634 , though these instructions are obsolete for 10.10, especially taking into account GRUB 2. In the mixer on the panel no hardware items are listed, lshw lists no sound devices and ubuntu-bug audio crashes on account of there being nothing in /proc/asound/cards, so there is no full bug report forthcoming. This is bad. I have now run out of ideas, short of rolling everything back to OSS (something I would very much rather not do), and am in a bit of a tight spot, having a mass of work to do already today. Any help would be greatly appreciated! ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- No sound in 10.10 Maverick Meerkat https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/658365 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 658365] Re: No sound in 10.10 Maverick Meerkat
Hi there, Unfortunately for all involved, I couldn't maintain the system operating as it was and was forced to do a clean install. The problems have disappeared, for now, which suggests to me that there was a configuration file somewhere that was causing all the trouble, much akin to my grub 2 theory. I am loath to recommend that this report be closed, however, as trawling Google has suggested that many others are still having the same problem. To answer your question, ubuntu-bug audio crashes on account of there being nothing in the /proc/asound/cards folder, i.e. the device is not even recognised. cat /proc/asound/cards also just returned an error, apologies for the vagueness, along the lines of "no device present", or something like that. It seems, therefore, that this issue has nothing to do with sound at all and relates instead to the way devices are handled, especially in the case of the upgrade to 10.10. Hope this isn't annoying and that it helps other people with the same problem out! -- No sound in 10.10 Maverick Meerkat https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/658365 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
