[Bug 303545] Re: oem-config should also set the host name
While I agree with your statement I disagree with your logic. I'm not an OEM... I'm an administrator trying to integrate Ubuntu and the lack of of the mentioned feature in oem-config DOES act as an impediment to introduction. Contrary to your statement changing the hostname IS a simple matter but not easy to do with machine imaging. If the OEM is incompetent enough to set the host name on a web server and then run oem-config then let that OEM deal with the consequences. On the other hand, imaging like hardware is so insanely common that it makes sense to offer the capability. It is possible to make a checkbox that offers the option of setting the hostname during the first run after oem-config. -- oem-config should also set the host name https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/303545 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 303545] [NEW] oem-config should also set the host name
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: oem-config I administrate a lab of Ubuntu machines that were cloned using clonezilla (or whatever I happen to be using). I use oem-config to prepare them for distribution. Each machine will be joined to an MS Domain using the LikewiseOpen AD client. It would be exceedingly helpful if, after oem-config has been run to be asked for a new host name for the machine after it has been cloned. Thanks for taking the time to hear my request. ** Affects: oem-config (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- oem-config should also set the host name https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/303545 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Both of these podcasts produce duplicate entries for me. [Bug 141405] Re: Compiz freezes on gksu screen grab
It does indeed work correctly under Gutsy. What steps can we take to fix this under Feisty? [Bug 141405] Re: Compiz freezes on gksu screen grab
I don't mean to be offensive but that is the solution that one would need if one were to suggest that a user move to a better supported distro or commercial OS. Firstly compiz isn't just eye candy it is tremendously useful for productivity (read: switcher and scale), secondly insisting that the user disable grabbing to use gksu(do) IS a security issue because malware could eavesdrop on the keyboard communication and capture the password. Thirdly offering an upgrade to a new and freshly bug ridden release is not exactly what someone who uses Ubuntu for business needs to hear. Believe it or not some professional sys admins and administrators actually need to test things before jumping in. If Microsoft stated that they would NOT fix an issue in XP because Vista is out there would be villagers with pitchforks and torches at their gates. My part of the bargain with Ubuntu is to be an active member of my loco (I am) to contribute financially to the project (I do) and to evangelize the OS to my colleagues and people I know (I do this to). The dev & motu teams part is to actually fix problems in currently supported versions and not just live for next release cycle. If I had the talent I would fix the problem myself. If I have to fix every problem myself Canonical can save a ton of cash by shutting launchpad down. Either we work to fix bugs or we don't. -- Compiz freezes on gksu screen grab https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/141405 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 216483] Re: USB storage fails to automount
I can confirm this bug. I found a problem with fstab after a fresh install of HH 8.04. A CD Rom drive was being mapped in fstab to /dev/sdb1 inappropriately. To check and see if this is happening to you type: sudo gedit /etc/fstab If you see the last two lines looking like this: /dev/sdb1 /media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 user,noauto,exec,utf8 0 0 /dev/scd0 /media/cdrom1 udf,iso9660 user,noauto,exec,utf8 0 0 The solution is to comment out the line that begins /dev/sdb1 and change the mount point like so #/dev/sdb1 /media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 user,noauto,exec,utf8 0 0 /dev/scd0 /media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 user,noauto,exec,utf8 0 0 Save fstab and reboot your computer. I have tested this on my own machine and the CDRom still works and USB drives will mount normally after the changes. Good luck and I hope this helps. -- USB storage fails to automount https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/216483 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 205226] [NEW] Power management policy not enfored in Hardy Beta 1
Public bug reported: Shutdown / reboot policies for a machine that has multiple users logged in have no effect when the Switch User function is used. For example the policy for shutting down the system when users are logged in is set to NO for all implicit and with no explicit permissions any user is still permitted to shutdown the system.
