[Bug 1587009] Re: hvc0 not present

2016-06-29 Thread davidak
>Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade?

No, like i said it is a fresh install using debootstrap.

>Was there a prior kernel version where you were not having this
particular problem?

We have hundreds of VMs with Ubuntu 10.04, 12.04 and 14.04 also
installed using debootstrap. But they don't use systemd to create the
hvc0.

>Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel?
Yes, tested with 4.7.0-040700rc5-generic.

[Bug 1721589] Re: same mount-point after rename dataset

It was about 200 datasets or so and we renamed them through a script
with the rename command line program. Nothing special.

I don't work at that company anymore, so i can't reproduce it or look up
the exact command used.

[Bug 1686102] [NEW] fullscreen controls flickers when screen is under another one

2017-04-25 Thread davidak
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:
1. open remmina session in fullscreen mode on a screen that is placed UNDER
another one
2. move the cursor to the top of the screen with remmina on, nothing will happen
3. the controls are actually on the screen above the one remmina is on
4. when you hover the control UI, it will move down to the screen where remmina
is on but comes back when the cursor is not over it anymore, resulting in
constant flickering

Workaround: click on the controls while they are flickering, it will
stay on the bottom screen are are usable

Now it also don't work with 4.8.0-44. Isn't the driver in the mainline

[Bug 1587009] Re: hvc0 not present in installation via debootstrap (on Xen)

2016-08-11 Thread davidak
A workaround is to create a Xen-Template for 16.04 with the default
Ubuntu-Installer like described here:

http://tecadmin.net/add-ubuntu-16-04-lts-template-on-xenserver/

(You have to change Xen source code so that it boots!)

But you can't install a minimal installation this way or decide how LVM
is structured.

Since there is no activity in this issue for two month now i don't
expect any progress in the near future.

[Bug 1654338] [NEW] system freeze after starting gajim

2017-01-05 Thread davidak
Public bug reported:

I installed gajim from Ubuntus repository on elementary OS 0.4 Loki

Shortly after starting the screen freezes and keyboard/touchpad don't
respond anymore.

Strange thing is that when i press the power button short, the screen
updates for some seconds but freezes then again. Keyboard and Touchpad
(also USB-Mouse) do still nothing.

Computer is an Apple Macbook Pro (Retina).

I attached a 'strace -f gajim' until the system freezes.

[Bug 1369216] Re: gpu-manager: /etc/modprobe.d is not a file

2017-03-09 Thread davidak
I have elementary OS 0.4 Loki (based on Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS) on a Macbook

Yesterday i installed the HWE Kernel and Xorg.

Today i rebootet the system since the resolution of the display was
strange after suspend. But then i had only tty, no desktop.

I rebootet again and everything was normal again.

But the reported problem is still the case:

Also tried with boot parameter console=hvc0.

Again without paravirtualization, booting works.

Maybe that helps. Can i do anything else to help debug this?

[Bug 1638618] Re: drop down menu (select) has no entries

2016-11-02 Thread davidak
I have 2 external displays on my Macbook at work. Now i'm at home and
just use the internal display.

There i just had this issue once. When i click again on the drop down,
the options are shown.

I will check tomorrow with external displays and disabled hardware
accelleration.

[Bug 1638618] Re: drop down menu (select) has no entries

2016-11-03 Thread davidak
I found out that this issue appears only on the external displays, not
on the integrated display of the notebook.

Disabling hardware accelleration makes no difference.

Would a video of the behaviour be helpful for you?

[Bug 1587009] [NEW] hvc0 not present

2016-05-30 Thread davidak
Public bug reported:

i have installed Ubuntu 16.04 with debootstrap on a XenServer 6.2.

i have also installed xe-guest-utilities, grub-xen and linux-image-
virtual.

when booting the VM, i don't see anything in the XenCenter console.

i think this is because there is no hvc0 tty.

as written here, it should start automatically:
http://0pointer.de/blog/projects/serial-console.html

Hypervisor vendor: Microsoft
Virtualization type:   full

maybe Ubuntu don't recognize Xen?

how can i get this working?

2015-09-14 Thread davidak
We have the same error on a 14.04 VM running on a XenServer 6.2

i created a new VM and restored a backup and run the daily cronjobs to
reproduce it but it didn't happen again.

run-parts -v --exit-on-error /etc/cron.daily

output of dmesg -T

[Bug 1511414] [NEW] PHP-FPM incorrectly defines the SCRIPT_NAME variable when using Apache

2015-10-29 Thread davidak
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS
php5-fpm 5.5.9+dfsg-1ubuntu4.14

this bug is fixed in php 5.5.18

https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=65641
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1248077

Description:

When using Apache + PHP_FPM, the SCRIPT_NAME variable is incorrectly set. For
example, accessing "http://127.0.0.1/sample/test.php/a/b/c";, results in:

ORIG_SCRIPT_NAME:
SCRIPT_NAME: /sample/test.php/a/b/c
ORIG_SCRIPT_FILENAME: //tmp/sample/test.php/a/b/c
SCRIPT_FILENAME: //tmp/sample/test.php
PATH_INFO: /a/b/c
ORIG_PATH_INFO:

While when using mod_php, the values are:

SCRIPT_NAME: /sample/test.php
SCRIPT_FILENAME: /tmp/sample/test.php
PATH_INFO: /a/b/c

It is also working fine when using NGINX

Test script:
---
A sameple script to reproduce the issue:

');

echo("SCRIPT_NAME: " . $_SERVER['SCRIPT_NAME']);
echo('');
echo("ORIG_SCRIPT_FILENAME: " . $_SERVER['ORIG_SCRIPT_FILENAME']);
echo('');

echo("SCRIPT_FILENAME: " . $_SERVER['SCRIPT_FILENAME']);
echo('');

echo("PATH_INFO: " . $_SERVER['PATH_INFO']);
echo('');

echo("ORIG_PATH_INFO: " . $_SERVER['ORIG_PATH_INFO']);
echo('');

?>

And a very simple apache conf:

Alias /sample /tmp/sample
ProxyPassMatch .*/sample/(test.php.*) fcgi://127.0.0.1:9000//tmp/sample/$1

Require  all granted

Expected result:

ORIG_SCRIPT_NAME:
SCRIPT_NAME: /sample/test.php
ORIG_SCRIPT_FILENAME: //tmp/sample/test.php/a/b/c
SCRIPT_FILENAME: //tmp/sample/test.php
PATH_INFO: /a/b/c
ORIG_PATH_INFO:

[Bug 1511414] Re: PHP-FPM incorrectly defines the SCRIPT_NAME variable when using Apache

2015-10-30 Thread davidak
thank you for the fast response.

the bug was also fixed in PHP 5.6.3 so it should be fine in Xenial.

this bug detains me from using ownCloud 8.x with FPM.

https://github.com/owncloud/core/issues/20146

i will suggest them this workaround.

[Bug 1414666] Re: GUI not redrawn after switching to Advanced Mode on elementary OS Freya beta1

2015-01-27 Thread davidak
it is no longer the default calculator so fixing this is not very
important.

** Project changed: pantheon-calculator => gnome-calculator

** Changed in: gnome-calculator
   Status: Invalid => New

** Description changed:

- installed beta1 in virtualbox and updated all packages to newest
- version.
+ installed elementary OS Freya beta1 (based on Ubuntu 14.04) in
+ virtualbox and updated all packages to newest version.

  steps to reproduce:
  1. open calc
  2. switch from basic to Advanced Mode (the window get's bigger)
  3. some parts of the window not get drawn correctly (see screenshot)

  that is the case with all modes where the window get's bigger.

  if you move the mouse or click the gui get's redrawn correctly.
