Thanks Komoto. That worked. And now vlc works too with the following
command.

[Bug 388240] [NEW] real player 10 consistently segmentation faults in Jaunty

2009-06-16 Thread cu_
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libx11-6

I have two machines -- current one Pentum dual core and another atom
based netbook running eeebuntu.

On BOTH machines "Realplayer 10" started crashing right after I
upgraded to Jaunty. On one machine I upgraded from whithin ubuntu
(using the gui). On the other one it is a totall new install from CD.
My point is -- the bugs looks like it is independent of how upgrade was
made and the processor.

Now I have a subscription service that needs me to use Realplayer 10.
Realplayer 11 works just fine. Only realplayer 10 has this issue. I
got he player from
https://helixcommunity.org/projects/player/files/download/2478 .

Here is the dump from catchsegv:

Please see attached lspci -vvnn output. Just to let you know, I have the same
problem on jaunty on a totally different machine (with different hardware).
I have not made any custom changes to xorg.conf -- so this is not attached.

[Bug 150193] Re: Remote Login via XDMCP is not working

2009-01-05 Thread cu_
Hi,

I forgot to post. My problem got resolved (accidentally). It had (for
some reason had to do with the router). The problem is, XDMCP tries to
get to port 177 on the local host. For some reason, it is going thru
the router and my router was blocking it. My mistake was I upgraded
Ubuntu AND changed my router at the same time. I ended up moving back
to my old router.

To test to see if you have the same problem... please remove the network chord
and try vnc-ing into local machine and it works fine.
The curx of the issue is port 177 on the host needs to be reachable from the
client.

Hope this helps.

It is still a problem in Intrepid. Little more information from syslog.
There are two more threads with exact same issues in ubuntuforums...but no
solutions.
Again, it worked before. Some update broke it.

[Bug 1006156] Re: Mute button on USB headset steals and holds on to mouse focus

2013-09-18 Thread cu_
aleko74's work around is fine if we are OK with not using the buttons on
the headset.

Ideally I would love to use the buttons on the USB headset for
mute/unmute, talk/end, vol up/down buttons. Also, I have three
different USB headsets two Logitect and one plantronics and the behavior
is the same. The headsets work great till I press any button on the
headset. Once pressed, the mouse becomes un-clickable till I pull the
headset out.

My USB headset works for a while and I see it disappear and suddenly
sound comes out of built in speakers. After a minute or so, the sound
comes back into my usb headset at full volume. When I watch the devices
in the sound settings output tab, I can see my plantroics usb headset
appear and disappear continuously.

[Bug 628600] [NEW] netbook edition launcher is not showing rotating wheel when an application is launched

2010-09-01 Thread cu_
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: netbook-launcher

This happens in the normal session (not the 2D session). Initially when
you launch an application (e.g. firefox) there used to be a wheel that
shows up on the top right corner of the launcher icon that starts
rotating. It shows as rotating as long as the application is running.
Now, that wheel is not showing up at all.

When I logout and switch to the 2D session, it shows up again. I would
expect that turning wheel effect on application launch to happen in
normal session too.
