[Bug 256378] [NEW] Desktop Not Present on Reboot
Public bug reported: This just started recently, and i have not made any system changes. When i restart my system, everything comes up except my desktop. I don't mean my image, as that is there, but no icons are shown and i can not click the desktop to deselect everything. I didn't know how to summarize that, but that is what it means. The fix to this is relatively easy, but it should not be necessary. To fix this i just: Ctrl+Alt+Backspace to restart the X-Server or what ever that is, and then it works fine. Hi, sorry for a bad bug submission; i did it in haste. Today, when i booted up my machine it worked first try, however last night it too three tries to get the desktop up. Anyway, i looked fo ~/.xsession-errors and there was no such folder (maybe because it worked?). But i have a HP/Compaq NC8430 Laptop (i think with standard equipment) which has an ATI (AMD) Radeon x1600 i believe. Thanks, Carick Harsh Singh wrote: > Please be more specific!
