I have an Inspiron 1100 with an i845 chipset. I have the latest Hardy as
of 4/8/08. I still have the cold boot problem.

[Bug 117892] Re: i810/intel xorg drivers hang Inspiron 1100

2007-08-25 Thread brianglass
I had this exact same problem. After much twiddling, I found a
workaround.

Make sure you have the sync rates set. The key setting for me was Option
"IgnoreEDID". I have BIOS A32.

Section "Monitor"
Identifier "Generic Monitor"
Option "DPMS"
HorizSync 30-70
VertRefresh 50-75
Option "IgnoreEDID"
EndSection

Additionally, you have to turn off the splash screen in
/boot/grub/menu.lst. Find the default boot entry and remove "splash"
from the end of the kernel line.

I have this problem on Lucid Lynx 64 with a Macbook Pro 5,3, except that
it seems to roam every six minutes (as opposed to the 2 minutes everyone
else seems to have).

[Bug 291760] Re: network-manager roams to (none) ((none)) - background scanning

2010-05-10 Thread brianglass
Peter,

I have only one AP with my SSID and it is set to G only mode and I
continue to have this problem.

Oddly my desktop, which is also wireless, has no problem whatsoever. It
seems to be tied to the Macbook Pro.
