I have same errors, but at hashing/reading data on SATA hdd with NCQ, after 
this read-write errors files on hdd was corrupt
any news? :(
mb intel 915gav/200Gb samsung sata hdd

[Bug 298843] [NEW] laptop rover partner w500 hangup on boot

I'll try to install (X)Ubuntu 8.10 on my old laptop, but time to time it may 
hangup on loading system and after successful installation. Ubuntu 8.04 
installed well, but сan't find video driver(same with me, I not found it), it 
run in safe graphic mode -after i press "next" it do nothing...only console, 
X's not starting.
Ubuntu 8.10, installed well but hang up on loading.

need more information from me to fix this bug?

CPU: VIA C7®-M 754 1.5
Chipset: VIA VN800 + VIA VT8237R+
screen: 15.4” TFT (1280x800)
build'in video: VIA VN800 (UniChrome Pro)
Memory: DDRII 533 - 768Mb
HDD: SATA Hitachi 120gb
buildin: modem 56k and ethernet lan 10/100

New Mandriva2009 with new 'linux core' works fine for me, but i want use
Ubuntu.

[Bug 289417] [NEW] Segmentation fault in Gproftpd

Hello!
I'w got seg. fault in gproftpd
I install proftpd+ gproftpd with Synaptic, work in Ubuntu 8.10 RC

in autocreate shortcut, command to run, look like - "su-to-root -X -c 
/usr/sbin/gadmin-proftpd", something wrong im think. If try to launch - got 
error: "details: was a failure at perform process-descendant(child) 
sudo-to-root (No such file or directory)" Im edit this command, and run 
gproftpd without sudo well and got message u must be root, with sudo im got 
seg.fault error
Launch in terminal does not give me any details about this error.

inWindows checkdisk find 4kb in bad sectors ! (4096 per cluster) 
It is necessary to refuse use Ubuntu until then bug it will to be fixed. :(
