[Bug 736354] Re: gdbserver (arm,natty) <-> gdb (ia32,natty) fails
Hi Matthew, Shivkumar, I have seen this issue even when binary is copied and passed to gdb-multiarch. error: Remote 'g' packet reply is too long: 2959b2be2 The root cause of the problem is we are not letting gdb-multiarch know the architecture. To solve this, simply pass in gdbinit file or via gdb shell. 'set architecture arm' This fixes the problem mentioned in bug. This is not a gdb-multiarch bug and this is to be expected since gdb- multiarch is general to many architectures. It assumes the user pass the architecture via commands or gdbinit file. ** Changed in: gdb (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/736354 Title: gdbserver (arm,natty) <-> gdb (ia32,natty) fails To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdb/+bug/736354/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1202220] [NEW] step function does not work with gdb-mutiarch
Public bug reported: In cross mode, running gdbserver from 12.04 armhf in the target and using gdb-multiarch in the host 12.04 x86 ubuntu, we can connect to the target using suitable gdbinit file but we cannot use step command in gdb-mutliarch shell. Using once starts the program to be run in the gdbserver, using it once more the program completion in the target. Steps to repro: Test C file: test.c #include void printest() { printf("printest function.\n"); printf("printest function.\n"); printf("printest function.\n"); printf("printest function.\n"); } int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { printf("Hello World!\n"); printf("Hello World!\n"); printest(); printest(); printf("Hello World!\n"); printf("Hello World!\n"); return 0; } Build: arm-linux-gnueabihf-gcc -g test.c -o test In target: gdbserver :1234 ./test In host: gdb-multiarch ./test gdbinit file used has: set solib-absolute-prefix set sysroot set solib-search-path /lib: /usr/lib set architecture arm In the gdb shell: (gdb)target remote :1234 (gdb) step (gdb) step Output: The program terminates in the target and the debugging is stopped. Also, I verified that using just the latest 12.04-armhf gdb (not the client/server combination) in the target itself that the same issue does not reproduce. ** Affects: gdb (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: gdb gdb-multiarch linaro-gdb -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1202220 Title: step function does not work with gdb-mutiarch To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdb/+bug/1202220/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 525552] Re: Byobu overwrites shell prompt setting
I was also affected by issue. But thanks to thread, I found how to disable PS1 changing by byobu. Default bash.rc enables byobu colorizing if it exists: [ -r /home/bhs/.byobu/prompt ] && . /home/bhs/.byobu/prompt #byobu- prompt# If line is commented, PS1 remains identical to what's set by bash of user's .bashrc setting. Personally, I feel byobu's authors tried to make prompt better but terminal program limitations might be screwing it up :(. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/525552 Title: Byobu overwrites shell prompt setting To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/byobu/+bug/525552/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
