[Bug 223593] Re: External Monitor Does Not Work

2008-05-31 Thread beyboo
I have an Acer Aspire 5920 ZD1 with GMA965 (X3100). Loaded Hardy clean
on it. Got an external LG 22' LCD Screen. When I boot with the external
screen attached, the initial "Ubuntu" screen is shown. However it all
disappears when X starts.

The - key does not work. Screen Resolution shows the external
monitor correctly and also allows me to select it with the right
resolution. However apply does not work. I can sense the LCD switch
between Analog and Digital back and forth, but nothing.

The solution I use is to select the external TFT which is detected and
visible in Screen Resolution. Click on apply and then
. Now when X restarts I see the display on both the laptop as
well as the external in the correct 1690x1050 resolution

However why does the Fn-F5 key not work and why do I have to kill X and
then go back in ?

Attaching my /var/log/Xorg.0.log

[Bug 311320] [NEW] acer 5920 webcam works at low resolution only

2008-12-24 Thread beyboo
Public bug reported:

Have an Acer 5920 series ZD1 model laptop with acer orbicam found as below :
[ 14.595372] uvcvideo: Found UVC 1.00 device Acer CrystalEye webcam
(064e:a101)
[ 14.597417] input: Acer CrystalEye webcam as
/devices/pci:00/:00:1a.7/usb3/3-2/3-2:1.0/input/input7
[ 14.597507] usbcore: registered new interface driver uvcvideo
[ 14.597511] USB Video Class driver (v0.1.0)

The Default input plugin for video in gstreamer-propersties is v4l2,
device /dev/video0

The problem
When clicking on test in gstreamer-properties, the test window comes up,
however is much lower than default VGA resolution of 640x480

Cheese / skype operate at the resolution of 160x120 only. With any higher
configuration I get the following error in cheese.
libv4l2: error allocating conversion buffer

Running Intrepid installed natively.

** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
