[Bug 67521] Re: kwalletmanager do not rememeber passwords after session/system restart
My idea is that kwallet only writes the passwords on closing. A system crash, or hard reboot will cause all the passwords inserted in the active session, to be lost as well. My workaround is to autoclose the wallets every 10 minutes (paswords will then be saved). [Bug 571371] Re: Ubuntu One sync is ridiculously slow
A good way to illustrate this, is to share a large package of files in tarred and untarred format. The tarred version takes about 10 minutes to be picked up, processed and uploaded. The untarred, several hundred of tiny textfiles, has been syncing for over 2 days and counting. Tailing various logs (~/.cache/ubuntuone/logs/*.log) showed me that the processing of metadata seems to be the bottleneck. Uploads themselves are fast, as others mentioned too. And as my tarred vs untarred example learned me too. So, while this may be related to the servers, I am confident that changes to the client would help a lot too. What can we, as developers do to help? On a related note: I found that after tweaking my firewall a bit, things went from "stalled" to "very very slow": a tiny speed improvement. I opened up 443 entirely, as it was forwarded to one machine. Though, in theory, this should not matter: ubuntu one client connects localhost->u1server:443 but not u1server->local:443. That latter is what I had blocked. Removing that: and on all 3 machines that are syncing, I could suddenly pass the "doing auth dance", and get u1 to actually sign in and start syncing. -- Ubuntu One sync is ridiculously slow https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/571371 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I can reproduce this quite often on high MySQL and/or Apache load. Not always, but if I get a hogging iwlagn, it most often is due to heavy load on my local mysqld and apache. [Bug 1790814] [NEW] Duplicate entries caused by debs and snaps offering the same application
Public bug reported: As a user, when I search for a software package, I want to see either one, canonical option, or I want to see clear visual cues why a software piece is listed multiple times, So that I either don't have to choose, Or that I have enough visual information to make a choice. As can be seen in the screenshot, when searching for Gimp, I get two, slightly different options. As a software engineer, I know the different sources: snaps and debs. And I know the reason for having two options. However, this is confusing, even when the cause is known. We need either: * An opinionated choice to be made: the "software" package should prefer one over the other. And list only that one. Commandline tools (apt, deb) still offer the choice to install the other option. * A visual cue why there are two. Information lacking is: the source: "Ubuntu Repository (deb)" or "Snap Store". Additional information is the version: often one or the other is newer, or preferred. Note that after clicking the through to the details, this information is made avaialble, albeit small and tucked away at the bottom. It also does not explain much there, either. Additionally, for sysadmins, an option to disable one or the other entirely would be useful. [Bug 1921497] [NEW] xdg-settings set default-url-scheme-handler changes the entry for mime type text/html
Public bug reported: >From https://github.com/telegramdesktop/tdesktop/issues/16051 Reproduce: 1. Ensure that `text/html` in *$HOME/.config/mimeapps.list* is set to a known value, e.g. firefox.desktop. 2. Create a .desktop file named *telegram-desktop_telegram-desktop.desktop*. Expected behaviour: HTML files are opened in firefox or the app defined before. Actual behaviour: HTML files are opened in Telegram (which cannot handle this). telegram-desktop is an example, and is how I experienced this issue. I'm not familiar enough with scheme-handlers and xdg-utils to be able to boil down a desktop-file to the bare minimals to reproduce this. Not certain if this is the exact same issue, but a very similar issue can be observed running from the commandline: ``` $ pgrep chromium | xargs kill # kill any running chromium (beware!) $ pgrep chromium | wc -l 0 # There are non running $ /snap/bin/chromium --product-version # command quits immediately. $ pgrep chromium | wc -l 1 $ /snap/bin/chromium # opens a browser. # Quit browser manually. $ pgrep chromium | wc -l 2 $ ps faux | grep chromium # check any processes running. \_/bin/sh /snap/chromium/1100/bin/chromium.launcher --product-version \_/bin/sh /snap/chromium/1100/bin/chromium.launcher ``` This shows that a process remains active after closing or running. The `ps faux` shows the leftover running processes and clearly shows they no longer have a parent: it seems the parent process forks, then quits, but leaves its child running. [Bug 1864901] Re: [snap] suggestion: alert users when the snap has been refreshed while running
The issues with dependant scripts like chromerunner are not solved either. Were external scripts considered when building this "solution" at all? External scripts, running chromium, obviously, want the process they spawn to exit -including any children that that process might spawn-. Breaking this, is bad. If, for some reason, different launch-patterns are required, such as update processes, CLI-processes, scripts or user-interaction, could we not introduce *standalone* scripts for that? E.g. "update-chromium.sh" that would do all the hackish-run-in-background-with-sleep. And avoid cluttering the generic runner with that? Or, if that *has* to be included in the generic launching, can we then introduce a `chromium-cli` or somesuch that does *not* have all these hacks for during updates in place? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1864901 Title: [snap] suggestion: alert users when the snap has been refreshed while running To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/1864901/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 874260] Re: Firefox freezes when I right click or try to open up bookmarks.
Here is a screencast of how this affects me. At least in my occasion, it seems obviously caused by many (many!) bookmarks in my menu. Note that this is a blazingly fast machine, with lots of memory and only SSDdrives; so the problem solves itself fast. When my bookmarks were imported on an old/thin machine, FF halted for over 20 minutes before becoming responsive again. In this case, the solution clearly lies in "less bookmarks". But AFAIK that should either be enforced by firefox not allowing more then X bookmarks in a menu. Or firefox/unity-menu only loading a subset into the menu. ** Attachment added: "Screencast of the freezing in action." https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/874260/+attachment/2723430/+files/out-1.ogv -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/874260 Title: Firefox freezes when I right click or try to open up bookmarks. [Bug 617179] Re: the problem is gwibber didn't login with facebook account
Not sure if this is exactly the same issue, original author was not very verbose. Please tell me if I should re-post this as a new issue. Here is what happens: Edit » Accounts » New Account » Facebook » Authenticate Facebook HTML-page appears. (I am not logged in). Message is "Log in om Gwibber in je Facebook account te gebruiken" (Facebook is localized to Dutch, sorry for that) Log in with FB credentials, check "[x] Stay logged in with Gwibber" FB HTML page dissapears, Gwibber gives a message "Facebook toestemming verleend", in EN: "Facebook permission granted" (screenshot attached) But, no facebook appears in my accounts list, yet. Buttons to call facebook grants still in GUI, pressing that button gives a frame with blank (HTML) page. (screenshot attached) I ran gwibber-service -d -o and result is attached. However, it seems no facebook-releated event is logged, other then the mere fact that "INFO:Gwibber Dispatcher:Gwibber Service is reloading account credentials". ** Attachment added: "gwiber-service-debug-log" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gwibber/+bug/617179/+attachment/1645624/+files/gwibber_617179_facebook_auth_not_working.log -- the problem is gwibber didn't login with facebook account https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/617179 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 773184] [NEW] scrollhandle overlays other apps when a screen is "locked down"
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: metacity Nautilus "hung" due to a huge copy-paste. This invokes the effect that the "hanging" application greys out, untill it becomes respondent again. **This is not the problem itself** The new scrollhandle of such a "not responding" window keeps on top of all other applications. [Bug 132988] Re: [gutsy] rhythmbox doesn't show daap shared smart playlists
I am using firefly svn-1696. With this version of Firefly/MTdaap, Smart playlists do show up in banshee, amarok and mplayer on n900. Though that is no proof, it appears the problem does not lie on the mt-daap side, but is unique to Rhythmbox. -- [gutsy] rhythmbox doesn't show daap shared smart playlists https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/132988 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
