[Bug 144511] default korean mirror has been dead for one month
Public bug reported: Default korean mirror, http://kr.archive.ubuntu.com/ has been dead for one month. The domain is assigned to KAIST mirror, http://ftp.kaist.ac.kr/ which has been not available for one month. In Korea, there are two other mirrors: http://ftp.daum.net/ubuntu/ and http://mirror.letsopen.com/os/ubuntu/ . As http://ftp.kaist.ac.kr/ and http://ftp.daum.net/ have the same directory structure, I think http://kr.archive.ubuntu.com/ needs to be reassigned to http://ftp.daum.net/ . ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- default korean mirror has been dead for one month https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/144511 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 203609] [NEW] unzip should use encoding according to locale, not utf-8
Public bug reported: As ZIP files doesn't include information on the encoding of the filenames, most of ZIP archivers use native(system) encoding for it. This is why the ZIP files archived on Windows can't be unarchived on Linux. For example, Korean version of Windows uses 'cp949(extended euc- kr)' encoding to zip and unzip the files. Japanese version of Windows uses 'shift-jis', and so on. Recently, encoding selection options are added to unzip. Two of them can be controlled by environment variables. export UNZIP='-O cp949' export ZIPINFO='-O cp949' These settings let unzip use cp949 instead of utf-8, the native linux encoding, and improve compatibility with Windows. So I propose that Ubuntu should include the settings above according its locale. If the system uses ko_KR.UTF-8, cp949 should be selected. For ja_JP.UTF-8, shift-jis should be used. zh_CN and other locales also can be configured. ** Affects: unzip (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- unzip should use encoding according to locale, not utf-8 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/203609 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Same problem here. I've suffered from the servers which are stuck in the GRUB phase occasionally. Now I know the reason. The recordfail feature can be a useful, but setting the timeout to -1 is too excessive in my opinion. As the above stated, changing it to a reasonable value, or at least making an option to change the behavior in /etc/default/grub would greatly help. [Bug 883744] Re: gnome-terminal does not honor the "Show menubar by default in new terminals" option
There is a workaround for this problem. Create a new file in /etc/X11/Xsession.d and name it as you want, say /etc/X11/Xsession.d/99baroslized, and write "unset UBUNTU_MENUPROXY" to it. Unfortunately, ~/.profile is not acceptable because the variable is set after ~/.profile is called. In addition to the annoying bug, GNOME Terminal in Ubuntu 11.10 has two more bugs in my experience. [Bug 722501] [NEW] GMA 4500MHD on UL30Vt doesn't support HDMI output

Although G210M supports HDMI video output, 4500MHD doesn't recognize the external monitor connected by HDMI at all. But both support VGA connector. Meanwhile, G210M cannot be an option; G210M isn't supported properly on UL30Vt yet. To enable the card, we must change SATA operation mode to Compatible. It will decrease performance of the hard disks. So we should stay on 4500MHD until the issue is fixed. [Bug 575750] Re: [Asus-ul30] "compatible" SATA operation mode disables Intel card
This is still a problem. We can activate the NVIDIA card only when SATA operation mode is set to Compatible. As it damages I/O performance more or less, I really don't wanna do that. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/575750 Title: [Asus-ul30] "compatible" SATA operation mode disables Intel card -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
