[Bug 277343] [NEW] Unnecessary "Already mounted" message printed at login
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ecryptfs-utils Running Ubuntu 8.10 development branch, ecryptfs-utils 53-1ubuntu8 Starting a second login session causes an "Already mounted" message to be printed. This seems confusing and unnecessary to me. I think the auto-mounter should either silently exit or print a more useful message. I can imagine someone thinking, "What's already mounted? Is that bad?" To reproduce (assuming user is already logged in): [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# su - user Already mounted [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ The message also appears at the end of the motd for tty logins. There is a parallel "Not currently mounted" message when logging out if the ~/Private/ directory has already been unmounted, which is similarly vague and confusing without context. ** Affects: ecryptfs-utils (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Unnecessary "Already mounted" message printed at login https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/277343 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 106575] Re: Can't compress to .7z if path contains whitespace
Still present in Hardy. Is this actually fixed upstream or not? -- Can't compress to .7z if path contains whitespace https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/106575 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 96083] Re: Installer hangs at "Migrate" on eMachines w3080 w/XP on 2nd HD
I ran into this same problem in the 8.04 Hardy beta. (The symptoms were the same but the directory it couldn't unmount was different.) Upgrading from the CD's ubiquity v1.8.0 to the latest v1.8.4 resolved the issue. -- Installer hangs at "Migrate" on eMachines w3080 w/XP on 2nd HD https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/96083 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 203573] Re: apt-get produces empty space/lines
Confirmed in Ubuntu Hardy 8.04 RC with apt-get and aptitude in gnome- terminal. This problem seems annoying enough to warrant fixing for the final release. It's inconsistent but fairly frequent -- just abort and retry until it happens. (As pauls mentions) if they output the extra line breaks, apt- get and aptitude also skip the Y/N prompt. I've observed it in apt-get and aptitude only when running dpkg-related commands (e.g. install, [safe-]upgrade, and remove). [Bug 200036] Re: Setting the time using the clock applet, shows authentication window below time settings window
Confirmed on Ubuntu 8.04 RC. A partial explanation for all this: The main issue is funky "Always on Top" behavior. The authentication window grabs keyboard and mouse input to itself, and it will sometimes appear behind other windows even though it ought to appear in the foreground. That said, this particular bug definitely seems to be related to the clock applet itself. The clock applet's calendar/weather thingy is always on top. The Clock Preferences window becomes "always on top" only when the clock's calendar is expanded (even though right-clicking on the Clock Preferences titlebar shows the Always on Top option is never checked). In Gutsy this is innocuous, as there's not much to the Clock Preferences window. In Hardy, however, clicking on the Time Settings button spawns the Time and Date Settings window directly behind Clock Preferences. Clicking "Unlock" on the Time Settings window will sometimes spawn the "Authenticate" dialog hidden behind the other windows. It also grabs mouse and keyboard input so nothing can be moved (I think this is described in another bug). When the calendar is not expanded, the Clock Preferences window is not always on top. Manually setting other windows to be always on top allows them to appear in front of the Clock Preferences whether or not the calendar is expanded (assuming your keyboard and mouse aren't locked). -- Setting the time using the clock applet, shows authentication window below time settings window https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/200036 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 203573] Re: apt-get produces empty space/lines
Pauls, that sounds like a separate bug to me. I don't experience any problems except with dpkg printing extra newlines -- no other applications, no other characters. [Bug 202240] Re: aptitude prints extra white space
I also observed this in Hardy Alpha and Beta. I tried to file this bug upstream (with Microsoft), and was slammed with a WONTFIX.
