[Bug 290704] Re: [fglrx]Computer freeze when switching user
The fact that you can crash your computer with 2 mouse clicks alone should make this a high-priorty bug. -- [fglrx]Computer freeze when switching user https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/290704 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 222197] Re: [Hardy Heron] Broadcom 4318 won't connect to network
Fresh install of Ubuntu 8.04 on an Asus 3000 laptop with BCM4318 [AirForce One 54g] Used b43-fwcutter to install wifi driver and I could connect to the WPA AP at my parents home, altough the available AP's don't show up in the gnome network dialog, as they do on my other (centrino) laptop. But now I can't connect to the WEP AP here or the open wifi (but that has a weak signal). DHCP is not working, so i tought: ill give myself a static ip. Problem still there, I can't ping the gateway. I have been reading about the iwpriv wlan0 authmode 1 & 2, but that is a setting for the madwifi drivers, right ? there is no such thing in the broadcom driver, or is there ? -- [Hardy Heron] Broadcom 4318 won't connect to network https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/222197 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 222197] Re: [Hardy Heron] Broadcom 4318 won't connect to network
I got it fixed, and I don't know exactly what did it. I think a bad signal was part of the problem. iwconfig showed connection quality around 40/100. iwconfig wlan0 essid works for now. But I still can't see available AP's in de network manager or the gnome manual config. But iwlist wlan0 scan does show them. -- [Hardy Heron] Broadcom 4318 won't connect to network https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/222197 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 290704] Re: [fglrx][Intrepid] Computer freeze when switching user
I'm having troubles with the same bug i think. I was trying this command: xinit xterm -- :1 vt8 Shouldn't this simply open an xterm applet (without window manager) on display 1, virtual terminal 8 ? It just makes my screen go black and my keyboard unresponsive :-( Is this related ? -- [fglrx][Intrepid] Computer freeze when switching user https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/290704 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 290704] Re: [fglrx][Intrepid] Computer freeze when switching user
As far as I understand, fast-user-switch uses startx/xinit in the background to start a new X session on another display ? Or is this wrong and my comment irrelevant ? If I'm on the right track it means the problem is not only with fast- user-switching, but with the underlying command xinit ? If this is a fglrx problem, other distro's should experience the same thing. Searching in the fedora forums, all I could find was a small thread: http://fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread.php?p=1148421 But they are talking about compiz being the problem. [Bug 290704] Re: [fglrx][Intrepid] Computer freeze when switching user
Funny analogy. I feel it's more like having a trailer hitch (the command is available), but using it breaks your car (computer freezes). Duplicate of bug 290704 More comments can be found there. Maybe fast-user-switching is not the cause of the problem. [Bug 218308] Re: Rdesktop cousing system freeze when using Cisco VPN client
I ran into this bug today too, exactly as #13. I tried with and without wifi. I tried with 9.10 and and older 8.04. It's usuable for a few seconds and then locks the system up. The only way to save the system is ssh'ing in from another machine and killing tsclient/rdesktop. Then I might have found the problem/workaround: In the performance tab in tsclient, check the "Hide window manager's decorations" option. It's running on both 9.10 and 8.04 for about 10 minutes and looks stable. -- Rdesktop cousing system freeze when using Cisco VPN client https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/218308 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 218308] Re: Rdesktop cousing system freeze when using Cisco VPN client
Chris, maybe the network admins are using transparent vpn routing to interconnect some remote parts of the campus together ? I've set up a transparent vpn with pppoe to connect a remote office with ours. Using rdesktop over this (transparant) vpn makes it crash too. How does the application notice its going over a transparent vpn is a big ? I will try vpn over ssh later and report back. I don't really know it would make any difference .. [Bug 480477] Re: [rt2860] frequent connection instability/loss on not optimal network quality.
Looking at the source code and the connection instability, it looks like every 2 minutes the connection hangs. I added a debug line in sta_ioctl.c at the start of rt_ioctl_giwscan.
