[Bug 236511] Re: Brightness control don't work on Amilo Li 2732

2008-08-26 Thread a_
@Leann Ogasawara:
there are no news about this bug. I' ve Ubuntu 8.04 and I keep it update but I
wasn't able to get the brightness control back. sorry.
As soon as I saw the new alpha of ubuntu i tried it (Alpha 4 - Released August
14th, 2008) but the only thing I got was a black screen! I waited for some
minutes and than I rebooted.
To be sure it was not a fault in the CD i've done a check on the media and it
seems the CD is ok.

@Lilian ROBERT:
I don't think. The Fn+F8 and Fn+F9 worked in the previous version on Ubuntu
while the wireless didn't worked. But If you take a look around o this site you
can find the modified madwifi driver (you need to compile them yourself) to get
the wireless. (but you cannot have the F1 switch to work)

[Bug 236511] Re: Brightness control don't work on Amilo Li 2732

2008-08-26 Thread a_
I am sorry I forgot the logs. Here they are.

uname -a > uname-a.log
cat /proc/version_signature > version.log
dmesg > dmesg.log
sudo lspci -vvnn > lspci-vvnn.log

Of course, as you can see, they are reports from the stable 8.04. Not
the alpha of the forthcoming new release.

[Bug 261441] [NEW] Suspend mode don't work on Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Li 2732

2008-08-26 Thread a_
Public bug reported:

On Ubuntu 8.04 the suspend mode do not work on my Fujitsu Siemens Amilo
Li2732. It goes in the suspend mode without any problems but when I try
to wake it up it goes in a black screen. So I have to reboot.

I am adding, in order the following logs I have taken.
uname -a > uname-a.log
cat /proc/version_signature > version.log
dmesg > dmesg.log
sudo lspci -vvnn > lspci-vvnn.log

also I have tried the procedure found here
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspend with the command
sync; echo 1 > /sys/power/pm_trace; /etc/acpi/sleep.sh force
and when I look at the dmesg log, after the reboot, it dosn't seems on no help.
I will add the demsg.txt later as a log.

thanks

2008-08-27 Thread a_
I put Ubuntu 8.10 "Intrepid Ibex" (Alpha 4 - Released August 14th, 2008) onto
my usb memory and I booted it without problems. Even if with some "dirty" on
the boot screen.
Still I am not able to use the Fn+F8 and Fn+F9 keys to control my screen
brightness! (and also I've lost also the possibility to use Fn+F3 and Fn+F4 to
control the volume of my audio).

I tried '/etc/acpi/sleep.sh force' from shell, as you said (via ctrl+alt+f1)

The first time I was able to came back and the second time I needed to reboot.

I get this error:

[Bug 236511] Re: Brightness control don't work on Amilo Li 2732

2008-10-11 Thread a_
HI Leann Ogasawara,
thanks for you help.

I am now on Ubuntu 8.10 "Intrepid Ibex" Beta (Released October 2nd,
2008) liveCD, so the tests refers on that system.

setting the brightness via System->Preferences->Power Management works very
well. At this point I think it is a problem with the Fn keys of the notebook
and not a problem with the brightness control per se. There is a think I did
not mention before (sorry): when I unplug the power line, and I go by battery,
the brightness lower.
So I assume is a Fn issue.
The point is that in Ubuntu 7 there were no problem with the Fn keys so I
thought it would be a simple issue!

I have done the test to see what model I own:
sudo dmidecode -s system-manufacturer
sudo dmidecode -s system-product-name
sudo dmidecode -s system-version

and here is the answer:
FUJITSU SIEMENS
AMILO Li 2732
20

if I press the Fn+F8 and Fn+F9 buttons, which should control the
brightness, I got this output from dmesg. (full dmesg log added as
attachment)

[ 1427.356178] atkbd.c: Unknown key pressed (translated set 2, code 0xd9 on

It will be distributed with the next major release (0.9.5) until then the only
solution is to compile the module form the "testing" branch.

2008-09-08 Thread a_
Update to the previous message

I booted alpha5 and than I've done some test. For testing the suspend mode I've
"log out" and in the login screen (when I have 9 seconds before automatic
login) I've suspend my pc.
After that I came back without any problems.
I've done the login, than again a log out and suspend.
This time I was not able to came back. I got only the Pc out of the suspend
mode but with a black screen.

I have done this test twice, and in the second time went exacly as the
first.

[To summarize, brightness control for Amilo Li 2732 worked in Ubuntu 7.x
and stopped to work in Ubuntu 8.4 and the same appens to the Alpha of
8.10]

@Leann Ogasawara:
I have tested Intrepid Ibex 8.10 (alpha5) with the new kernel and there is the
same behaviour. There is no brightness control.

Btw: why this bug has the "Incomplete" Status? Do I have to give more
output?

In the next posts I will add the LOGs for that release:

[Bug 185331] Re: Wifi does not work in MSI VR601-041 laptop (Atheros AR5007EG)

2008-04-14 Thread a_
Hello,
I've the same wireless card but a different pc (Fujitsu Siemens Amilo LI2732)
and I can't make it work.
I am doing a test with the new Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron (beta!) and I will post
the new logs hoping that this could help to solve the problem.
