Hi everyone I found this problem in Hardy to. I resolved it by installing the ppa package from this bug report https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vpnc/+bug/206673 To install I did the command line sudo dpkg -i vpnc_0.5.1r275-1ubuntu1~ppa1_i386.deb Via the GUI the install option is greyed out as it sees the current vpn version as being newer. [Bug 280897] Re: fsck is not helpful
Hi, thanks for reporting this bug. I am sorry that you fs got corrupted, however, let me give you a little background on how fsck works. Basically, any files that it CAN fix, it fixes and puts in the original place. And files that can't be fixed (eg, very badly corrupted sections) are moved to /lost+found, so if you want to try other programs yourself, you can use it on that folder. So basically, fsck was not able to fix anything, and I would daresay your whole volume is hosed. -- fsck is not helpful https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/280897 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 150628] XGL supercedes GDM for X server startup options
Public bug reported: I was trying to get remote X11 working on my Ubuntu-Gutsy-build-13 laptop with compiz and emerald. After lots of work, I saw this line when I did a ps -ef -ww|grep X: matthew 11391 11337 0 12:12 ?00:00:00 /bin/sh /usr/share/xserver-xgl/Xgl-lockfile-wrapper :1 -accel xv:pbuffer -accel glx:pbuffer -nolisten tcp -fullscreen -br +xinerama As you can see, it is the -nolisten tcp flag that is killing the remote X11 connection. I set out to find a way to remove the flag. The first thing I did was make sure that the box "Deny remote TCP connections" was unchecked in gdmsetup. I preceded to edit /etc/gdm/gdm.conf, /etc/gdm/gdm.conf-custom, /etc/X11/xinit/xserverrc, and many other files I can't remember. I then tried logging in to "Failsafe GNOME" instead of "Run XClient Script", and the argument was gone. I concluded that it was XGL causing the problem. Finally, I did a grep nolisten on /etc/X11 and got this line: 98xserver-xgl_start-server:XGL_OPTS="-nolisten tcp -fullscreen -br +xinerama" Bingo! I edited that file to remove the -nolisten tcp argument and restarted the X server, and ps -ef -ww|grep X now said: matthew 11391 11337 0 12:12 ?00:00:00 /bin/sh /usr/share/xserver-xgl/Xgl-lockfile-wrapper :1 -accel xv:pbuffer -accel glx:pbuffer -fullscreen -br +xinerama I can provide any other info you need. ** Affects: xserver-xgl (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: compiz gdm gdmsetup nolisten remote tcp x11 xgl xserver -- XGL supercedes GDM for X server startup options https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/150628 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 220861] Re: Compiz "Group and Tab" crashes X
OK. I'm running Hardy 8.04rc1. I have all the latest updates but I'm not sure how to find what versions I have. Steps to reproduce: Open GIMP Select the layers palete and the tools palete. Group the two. And it crashes! It consistently crashes when I do that. I can't get the logs now but I will get the when I get back home. -- Compiz "Group and Tab" crashes X https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/220861 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hi am having the same issue laptop is a HP nc6320, my wireless router is Netgear WPNT834. The laptop connects to other routers fine. Hi I am having the same issue my wireless can't connect to my Netgear AP at home. 128k Wep to my friends Linksys works fine and my companies unencrypted Guest access works fine I've tried both WPA (TKIP) and Wep on the netgear, I'll confirm if WPA2 works when I get home tonight. [Bug 384344] Re: [3G] NetworkManager does not detect ZTE AC8710 CDMA/EVDO 3G USB Modem
Hi there. I'm newby here, so sorry if I'm writing in the wrong place. However, this is the most similar thread to what I need that I've been able to find in the net. I have a Novatel Merlin UX870 pc card (idxvendor=1410x1430) that I use as a modem. My OS is Xubuntu 9.04. My network-manager version is 0.7.1. My present linux kernel is version 2.6.28-17. So far, everything worked ok. When I plugged in my card, it got detected by the system, properly loaded the modules (usbserial and option) and created the device nodes /dev/ttyUSB0 and /dev/ttyUSB1 (first one is the good one, the other I don't know its use), properly detected by NM, properly been able to create new mobile broadband connections with the applett netrowk-manager-gnome and, in general, all was happiness and joy. But suddenly, since some days ago, after I-don't-know-what-I-may-have-possibly-done, NM doesn't like my modem any more. The system still sees it, and I can, for example, manually configure and "pon myconnection", and get online without problems. But NM refuses to accept the card. The only relevant thing I remember having done recently is replacing the 2.6.28-15 kernel with the 2.6.28-17, but I'm not sure if that's the problem, as I think that dates of replacement/issue don't match. Besides, I've tried with another one kernel (2.6.24-23) and problem remains. So, probably that has nothing to do. I've a badly broken memory (in my head, I mean, not in the computer), but I don't remember having installed or uninstalled anything relevant. So, I'm at a loss. Any clue? I'd very much appreciate some guideline or hint. Useful information for somebody out there who will like to help me: When plugged the card, or when restarted, NetworkManager logs that (ttyUSB0): found serial port (udev: hal:GSM) (ttyUSB0): ignoring due to lack of probed mobile broadband capabilities (ttyUSB1): ignoring due to lack of mobile broadband capabilities End of "nm-modem-probe /dev/ttyUSB0" command says that modem_probe_caps(): GCAP response: +GCAP: +CGSM, +DS ID_NM_MODEM_GSM=1 ID_NM_MODDM_PROBED=1 main(): /dev/ttyUSB0: caps (0x9) GSM I've been modifying the /lib/udev/rules.d/77-nm-probemodem- capabilities.rules as suggested above in this post, tried all possible combinations, but NM insists in denying broadband capabilities to my card. Seems like if it wasn't running nm-modem-probe, or something... -- [3G] NetworkManager does not detect ZTE AC8710 CDMA/EVDO 3G USB Modem https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/384344 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
