[Bug 55012] Re: [Bug 55012] Re: Installer crashed.
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 48355 *** Not really, because the real problem was that the partitioner was the cause of it. It changed the partitions around from how I had them set up in the first place. The way the partitioner interpreted my setup was to put the root directory in the space I allocated for the swap drive. That, or a mismatch on one of the other drives ('/usr/' into '/'), is probably what caused the crash. And I figured out how it happened in my head. When I was making the partitions on the drive, it was on top of another Linux installation. I deleted the root partition and put another one in it's place, which the installer marked as hdb8. Then I deleted the other three partitions (swap, /usr and /home) and added new ones, which the installer marked hdb5, 6 and 7. When I went to the next screen, the partitions had been swapped around so that they were in the order 5, 6, 7 and 8, but the order that I has assigned their partition types was not swapped with them. So the 2.1G root partition became the 2.1G /usr partition, the 1.25G swap became the 1.25G root, etc. I went back and deleted all the partitions at once, reinstalled them in order and had no problem with the installation at all. [Bug 55012] Re: [Bug 55012] Re: Installer crashed.
LOL Well, if you'd asked me that right after I'd installed it there would have been no problem. But I've already installed so much stuff, and done so much work, on the system that it doesn't look like a very exciting idea. I'll tell you what. I have another partition for linux on another HD. (I'm basically trying out different linux versions to find which one is right for me. So far, Ubuntu rates pretty high on my 'keep' scale.) I can try and install it on that partition as well, though I don't know if that will cause a conflict of some sort. The main thing I'm worrying about is the new install reconfiguring Grub. But if the install bombs out like it did last time, it won't get to that point, will it? [Bug 57601] Nice work, guys.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: libglib2.0-0 The new drivers cause my screensavers to jerk. Not like when Mesa is installed (I got rid of those drivers quick), but like it runs fine for about a quarter of a second then stops for a quarter of a second. I tried renaming them so that the system would only find the 1.2 drivers again, but then my desktop wouldn't come up. So I had to tty it back into /usr/lib and change them back again. Had my system working just fine with the 1.2 drivers and you had to fit the 2.0 drivers into some update that I would have refused if I'd known they were in there. Now, my screensavers are all jerky and I don't even want to know how the other programs that use animated graphics are doing. So now I'm faced with two choices. First, reinstall Ubuntu for about the 20th time and then spend the days reinstalling all the stuff that I have installed now. Or I could just wait for you to come out with some drivers that work correctly. ** Affects: glib2.0 (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- Nice work, guys. https://launchpad.net/bugs/57601 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Okay I added Linux to affected projects. If anyone knows a better way to direct this to someone who can get a fix in route? I am pretty new to this bug reporting. I know this is a big problem for a lot of people. And it would be great if a fix can make it into the next release. ** Also affects: linux Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Wireless Disconnects When Loaded by Torrent Traffic, Must Reboot To Reconnect https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/374650 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 374650] Re: Wireless Disconnects When Loaded by Torrent Traffic, Must Reboot To Reconnect
one thing that helps so you don't need to reboot is right click on network manager and uncheck wireless then re-check wireless. Also I have seen some improvement by assigning a static ip to the network adapter but it is still present. Re: [Bug 374650] Re: Wireless Disconnects When Loaded by Torrent Traffic, Must Reboot To Reconnect
This is a good start for reporting bugs as well as the Ubuntu forums. Unfortunately this bug has been around for a while it seams to be with some intel wireless chips. For some reason I have found that installing 9.04 and upgrading to the latest version seams to fix the problem. At east it did for me when I was using 9.10. With that said I am running a regular fresh install of 10.04 right now. I have found that if you right click on the Wireless and uncheck wireless and then recheck wireless it will save you a reboot when it is acting up. Some people have said it is related to using Wireless N but I would rather have the faster LAN speed than disable it. Hopefully it isn't an issue with the newer chipsets I think I am going to buy a HP Envy 15 this summer. My Dell XPS m1500 is falling apart on me (literally). Thats interesting but I don't have an internal modem. The only way I was able to fix this was to install 9.04 and upgrade to 9.10. [Bug 516412] Re: Pressing causes X to freeze
I am the original bug submitter an the only way I was able to fix the issue was to remove Plymouth all together. However due to other issues I am currently running 9.10 now so the others with the same issue can help troubleshoot as they have been. It's not too hard to tell if it is the same bug. If you press and the system pretty much freezes except for ssh then it is the same issue. I'm not real sure why we really need Plymouth anyway seams that every one has less problems and faster boot ups without it. -- Pressing causes X to freeze https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/516412 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
