[Bug 193578] Re: Scrolling Firefox interrupts Rhythmbox audio

2008-11-20 Thread Yuri Glushkov
I'm experiencing this problem with Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid 32 bit, new install.
MSI EX600 laptop, Intel T7100 processor, 2G DDR2 667 MHz memory, Nvidia GeForce
8400M GS video adapter. Compiz is turned off, the sound preferences are set to
ALSA.
It shows with rhythmbox and totem (gstreamer), while scrolling in firefox 3.0.4
or nautilus file manager. xorg cpu usage peaks up at the moment the sound
lags. When visual effects in totem are turned off, the problem doesn't show
itself.
With audacious, audacity, vlc, realplayer and smplayer there is no problem.
xorg version is:
1:7.4~5ubuntu3

[Bug 177893] Re: Totem - internal data flow error on mp3

2008-10-23 Thread Yuri Glushkov
I have an update on this issue on Hardy. Although no error message was
given, there is some misbehaviour that can be related to this bug.

When I move the slider forward and backward while the file is being
played, at some point the sound output is stopped, slider usually jumps
to the beginning of the file (once it was at 18 sec from the beginning),
the controls shows that it is still playing. It is not possible to
resume the playback from the totem controls in any way I tried, the only
way is to re-open the file. When trying to move the slider at this
state, it always jumps back to the freeze point.

I've tested about 10 files, same behaviour occured in all of them, except one.
Attached totem-debug.txt.zip with this event captured on the following file:

[Bug 137598] Re: Screen brightness resets to default (maximum) on idle with AC plugged in

2007-10-22 Thread Yuri Glushkov
I have an update: it seems that the problem with random dims shows up when the
gnome-power-manager decides (without apparent reason) that the computer runs on
battery, while it runs on AC power. The applet shows that the computer runs on
battery, and some random time until charged (???)
There is no problem when the power manager recognizes the power source
correctly. When gnome-power-manager process is terminated, the brightness is
also constant.
Simon: it is possible, despite the fact that the behaviour seems related. Would
you suggest filing another bug?

[Bug 137598] Re: Screen brightness resets to default (maximum) on idle with AC plugged in

2007-10-21 Thread Yuri Glushkov
In my laptop (MSI EX600 with Ubuntu Gutsy final) there is a similar behaviour -
the brightness is adjusted automatically without an apparent reason - the
screen can get dim or bright more or less randomly (actually it happened a few
times while writing this message). Removing "Dim display when idle" option has
no effect.
When adjusting the brightness via keyboard, pressing a key combination
(Fn+Increase of Decrease) can cause following actions: it can be no response,
it can increase the brightness one step, or decrease it. The general direction
of the adjustment is correct - if you press the relevant keys long enough,
you'll get the screen bright or dim.
In Feisty it worked more or less correctly, so it is a real regression.

[Bug 209520] Re: SMB error: Unable to mount location

Looks like the problem is that the nautilus somehow bypasses user name and

At my machine gnome commander is able to browse the same shares after supplying

user name/password.

[Bug 128465] cdrom disappears during Ubuntu Feisty install

2007-07-26 Thread Yuri Glushkov
Public bug reported:

First, the problem description:
While trying to install Ubuntu Feisty Fawn on MSI EX600 laptop, the cdrom
disappeared at some stage during the loading of the live cd. The live cd of
Edgy loaded fine. It was possible to install Edgy and then upgrade to Feisty,
but with Feisty cdrom was missing However, when the kernel 2.6.17.10 from edgy

without success.

[Bug 128465] Re: cdrom disappears during Ubuntu Feisty install

2007-08-29 Thread Yuri Glushkov
We've tried the live CD of Gutsy Gibbon tribe 5, and it loaded successfully.
Then it was possible to manually mount the live CD and see the files on it. It
was not possible to eject the disk and try another CD/DVD, but I assume that
this is a feature of the live CD (please correct me if I'm wrong).
Is there any other test we can perform in order to make sure that this problem

[Bug 525959] [NEW] Webcam 093a:2460 (Pixart PAC207BCA) - inverted LED logic

2010-02-22 Thread Yuri Glushkov
Public bug reported:

Hi all,

Problem:
The LED on this webcam is always turned on when connected to USB, unless some
application uses it - the behavior that is opposite to what is expected.

It was tested on Ubuntu 9.10 32 bit, kernel 2.6.31-19-generic.
lsusb shows the webcam information as follows:
ID 093a:2460 Pixart Imaging, Inc. Q-TEC WEBCAM 100

Suggested solution:
The driver for this camera is gspca_pac207 (located at
/lib/modules/2.6.31-19-generic/kernel/drivers/media/video/gspca).
In the driver source file pac207.c it can be seen that the bit 1 of the
register at 0x41 controls the LED. Looks like it was assumed that '0' at this
bit turns the light off, when actually '1' does that. After I've changed the
value of this register to the opposite, the re-compiled driver works correctly
and the LED is on only when the camera is in use.
I've attached the modified pac207.c. The diff of the changed file vs. original
is below:

272c272
<   pac207_write_reg(gspca_dev, 0x41, 0x02);
