[Bug 1508146] Re: alt + left/right arrows switch between tty consoles, cannot disable

2017-02-25 Thread Yaron Sheffer
That solution does not work for me (Ubuntu Gnome 16.10), in fact
dumpkeys still prints the old mappings. Besides, the solution is
supposed to be temporary, meaning it does not persist across reboots.

[Bug 1323567] [NEW] Changing password does not change ecryptfs password

2014-05-27 Thread Yaron Sheffer
Public bug reported:

I changed my own password on the Gnome User Accounts applet. After
reboot, I could not access my home directory. It turns out the ecryptfs
passphrase was still wrapped with the *old* password.

Workaround: in single user mode, I used ecryptfs command to rewrap the
passphrase.

This is similar to the old #307019, but now on Ubuntu 14.04 + Gnome
(brand new, not an upgraded system).

[Bug 745836] Re: encrypted swap corrupts application stack/heap [was: soffice.bin SIGSEGV cppu::throwException()]

2011-09-26 Thread Yaron Sheffer
I implemented the workaround in #71 and things were better at first
(thanks Luca!). But today, after a suspend/resume, Writer went Boom as
soon as I touched it. (I was using a feature - Track Changes - for the
first time, which may have something to do with it). So as far as I'm
concerned this is not a complete solution.

[Bug 921964] [NEW] gufw and Windows shares

2012-01-26 Thread Yaron Sheffer
Public bug reported:

gufw by default does not allow Nautilus to see Windows shares (seen on a
home network, Windows is a non-domain Win7 machine). This is widely
reported, see https://answers.launchpad.net/gui-ufw/+question/72444. I
think the default policy should allow it, but even with the current
policy, gufw should provide an easy way to install the relevant rules
(just adding the Samba Service does not work).

Importance: many people probably disable the firewall altogether because
Windows access is important to them, and the configuration is difficult.

Workaround:

- Download application profiles from
http://jhansonxi.blogspot.com/2010/10/ufw-application-profiles.html into
/etc/ufw/applications.d/

sudo ufw enable
sudo ufw allow samba
sudo ufw allow from any app Samba

[Bug 897000] [NEW] Hebrew Lyx keyboard: missing the Rafe symbol

2011-11-27 Thread Yaron Sheffer
Public bug reported:

The Lyx keyboard layout is very convenient, but would become even more
useful for partially-punctuated text if the Rafe symbol (a thin
horizontal line on top of the letter) were added. This symbol is also
essential for Yiddish text. See e.g.
http://www.haayal.co.il/thread?rep=534240 for more discussion.

Fixed indeed in Oneiric. Note however that I still have a server running
Natty, with the Ubuntu packages. And there I'm seeing:

$ ec2-version
1.3-57419 2010-08-31

$ ec2-describe-group default-https
GROUP default-HTTPS The main access is through HTTPS

But no group ID on the GROUP line.

[Bug 803804] [NEW] ec2-describe-group does not print group ID

2011-06-30 Thread Yaron Sheffer
Public bug reported:

API doc gives this example:

PROMPT> ec2-describe-group StandardGroup
GROUP sg-1974436d StandardGroup A standard EC2 group
PERMISSION StandardGroup ALLOWS tcp 80 80
   FROMCIDR102.11.43.32/32 ingress

However on my machine (11.04, latest version of package),

ec2-describe-group default-https
GROUPdefault-HTTPS The main access is through HTTPS
PERMISSION 071989450653default-HTTPS ALLOWS tcp 443 443
FROMCIDR0.0.0.0/0

The second field is missing on the GROUP line, it should have been "sg-
a73036d3".

Thanks!

[Bug 656517] Re: launcher should allow to start several instances of an application

Middle-clicking is impractical with netbooks, and this functionality is
important enough for "simple" users that it should be provided by the
base launcher, with no need to tweak desktop files or search for the app
from the Dash. Docky does have it, by the way.
