Public bug reported: After upgrading to Kubuntu 8.10 when kdm starts the mouse and the keyboard do not work (nor typing nor moving the mouse cursor). Alt+Ctrl+Backspace does not do anything at all. By pressing Alt+Ctrl+F1 I can login restart kdm and everything works fine. [Bug 306520] [NEW] video flickering
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: vlc I'm running 8.10 and with an ATI RV515 [Radeon X1300] video card. When all desktop effects are turned off video plays fine but when it's on I see alot of video flickering. It may have to do with the driver since with other drivers everything works ok. Quick fix: You need to change your video player to output via X11. Settings>Preferences>Video Select "Output modules" and change to "X11 video output". With openchrome/trunk (up to 751) when I boot my computer the kernel splash screen is misplaced to the bottom right (it looks like that if I had a bigger monitor it would be centered). Then when X starts the kdm login screen is also misplaced (the same way). When I apply any of these patches the splash is again misplaced, but this time X does not start at all (the monitor enters energy save mode). There is nothing I could do about it. The old kernel gave me a busybox shell but I did not manage to do anything. The new kernel did not even offer this option :( .
