[Bug 561935] Re: Does not remember the changed contact name during subscription after selecting group

2010-04-27 Thread WarriorIng64
It's been a while; I have been studying for final exams (I'm a college
student). I just came back to check today.

I saw the bug being reported at the GNOME Bugzilla and it appears they
want it reported at bugs.freedesktop.org, correct?

Another thing that I feel is very important to point out: Empathy is not
simply forgetting changed alias names for contacts. It is not
remembering new contacts at all after those initial ones I had already
put in. I found that if you follow the steps for reproduction posted
earlier, but at step 3 don't change the alias name, I still run into the
same problem.

I'll go report this to bugs.freedesktop.org after I finish my last exam
and get a new email account.

[Bug 561935] [NEW] Empathy allows no more than 3 contacts per group upon restart

2010-04-12 Thread WarriorIng64
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

I have two contact groups in Empathy that I was trying to manually add
Yahoo contacts to, called "Family" and "Friends". I added in 4 contacts
for Family and about 7 or so for Friends, then later shut down my
computer. When I restarted and re-opened Empathy, all but 3 of my
contacts for each group were gone. I re-added in the contacts, and after
shutting down and restarting the computer found that again, only the
same 3 Family and the same 3 Friends contacts were kept; the rest went
missing. After trying different things with this, I found that simply
logging out of my desktop account and logging back in has the same
effect.

I am using Ubuntu 9.10 64-bit, and my version of the Empathy package is
2.28.1.1-0ubuntu1.

[Bug 561935] Re: Empathy allows no more than 3 contacts per group upon restart

2010-04-13 Thread WarriorIng64
Actually, after finding that the same problem exists on my laptop as on
my desktop, I found that all you actually need to do is to close Empathy
and restart it to make the extra contacts disappear. As for my laptop,
it is also Ubuntu 9.10 64-bit, running on a Toshiba Satellite

[Bug 561935] Re: Empathy allows no more than 3 contacts per group upon restart

2010-04-15 Thread WarriorIng64
It's not that difficult to reproduce, at least for me. The steps I take:
1.) Open Empathy (Applications > Internet > Empathy IM Client)
2.) Click Chat > Add Contact...
3.) For the Account drop-down list in the dialog box which appears, I have
selected "New Yahoo! account". I move to the Identifier field and enter the
identifier for a friend of mine ([somebo...@yahoo.com). Once I finish typing,
this is automatically copied over to the Alias field and it allows me to select
a group. I click on the Friends group I have previously set up, then go back to
the Alias field and change it back to my friend's real full name. An icon now
appears below the field marking her as "Offline".
4.) I click the Add button and the dialog closes. She now appears by her alias
name in the Contact List window under my Friends group.
5.) Now I could just shut down, restart or log out of my computer, or even
select Chat > Quit on Empathy's Contact List window. The results will be the
same. The next time I restart Empathy and look in my list, all of my other
contacts that I had previously entered into my groups are still there, but the
new contact has mysteriously disappeared.

This behavior is exactly the same for me both on my laptop with Empathy
2.28 and on my desktop which is now running Empathy 2.30.

[Bug 670169] Re: Chromium icon in Unity is distorted / some scaled distored in the unity place applications

2010-12-28 Thread WarriorIng64
I am experiencing a similar problem on my laptop when using Ubuntu 10.10
Netbook Edition. I don't have Chromium installed, but I do have Google
Chrome, and its icon appears to display just fine. However, I get the
problem with the icons for Emacs and Hedgewars, as shown in the attached
screenshot. I think the Gwibber icon is affected as well, but it's not
as noticeable. I don't think this problem is only specific to Chromium.

[Bug 857089] Re: suggestion: nautilus tweak in ambience theme

2011-11-18 Thread WarriorIng64
I just made my changed version that way because:

1) I had no idea of what I was doing mostly (main reason), yet I just wanted to
fix it
2) I like how the top of the sidebar integrates seamlessly with the bottom of
the titlebar
3) To me, there's no problem between the sidebar and the toolbar, and I think
it gives it a nice almost-3D effect. I'm not sure why the toolbar gradient is
considered an all-or-nothing proposition, but that's not for me to decide

At any rate, I'll just leave it at that and watch this bug for progress.
I still think this is much improved over what's currently in Oneiric,
IMHO.

[Bug 780628] Re: Screen saver freezes up in Unity

2011-09-22 Thread WarriorIng64
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 781402 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/781402

The freeze in bug #781402 (which this was marked as a duplicate of)
specifically occurs when the lid is closed and reopened. This freeze
occurs just from leaving the display alone long enough, not necessarily
letting it go to sleep. I recall my screensaver freezing up like this
even when having the display set to go into screensaver but never
actually go to sleep. Unless both bugs have the same underlying cause,
I'm not sure how they can be duplicates if they occur under different
circumstances.

That being said, I haven't allowed my aforementioned laptop that's still
running Natty to recreate the conditions for the freeze in a long while
now, and I don't have any debug info available yet. I can confirm that
I'm not getting this issue in Oneiric on my desktop, though, probably
because that doesn't come with a screensaver by default.

[Bug 862356] [NEW] Cannot install MP3 playback support through Ubuntu One Music Store

2011-09-29 Thread WarriorIng64
Public bug reported:

When going to Banshee's Ubuntu One Music Store, the button offering MP3
playback support installation at the top is present, and clicking it
will ask for your password, etc., and everything looks fine at first.
However, the support does not actually get installed, with no error
message given. The button does not reappear until Banshee is restarted.

[Bug 880465] [NEW] Duplicate Skype (skype:i386) entries shown

2011-10-23 Thread WarriorIng64
Public bug reported:

When I search for Skype in the Ubuntu Software Center, it finds two
Skype (skype:i386) entries right next to each other, with no discernable
difference between them. They behave like one entry; in the attached
screenshot, I only clicked the Install button for the first entry, and
both of them showed identical progress bars; now when I reopen the
Software Center, it still shows both entries and they're both marked as
installed.

It should be noted that Skype still appears to have been successfully
installed, and I can run it with few problems.

[Bug 881003] [NEW] Windows on same workspace flicker when switched between

2011-10-24 Thread WarriorIng64
Public bug reported:

This is an Ubuntu 11.10 64-bit machine upgraded from Ubuntu 11.04. When
switching between two windows on the same workspace under Unity (not
sure if it does the same under GNOME Shell yet), either through clicking
or using Alt+Tab, windows flicker during the switch. This issue did not
exist under 11.04, and is quite distracting.

[Bug 821302] Re: Lack of emoticons

I'm taking this bug to mean that Empathy should add support for all of

out on my end. Whether this could actually be considered a bug, I'm not

[Bug 836669] Re: gnome-screenshot only captures wallpaper

2011-09-13 Thread WarriorIng64
I had this behavior occur while I was still testing Oneiric Beta 1 in a
VirtualBox virtual machine on my Natty install. Since Natty started
freezing, I installed the 9/9/2011 daily build of 11.10 alongside Natty
straight on my desktop itself. I have not been able to get back into
Natty since grub no longer shows on my display (hence cannot switch OS
at boot), but while running Oneiric on actual hardware I have no longer
been able to reproduce this bug.

[Bug 849916] [NEW] alarm-clock-applet window starts under panel in top-left corner of the screen

2011-09-14 Thread WarriorIng64
Public bug reported:

When alarm-clock-applet starts in Ubuntu 11.10 upon login, its
application window opens in the very upper left-most corner of the

[Bug 859928] [NEW] Cannot unminimize the last active window by clicking launcher icon

2011-09-26 Thread WarriorIng64
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:
1.) Have any number of windows open (even only one).
2.) Minimize all windows.
3.) Click on the launcher icon for the last window minimized.

Instead of unminimizing the window, it does nothing. Clicking on another
window/icon will unminimize that as usual, permitting you then to
unminimize the window you were originally having trouble with. Another
workaround is to use Alt+Tab to switch to the minimized window and bring
it out again.

[Bug 877002] [NEW] Applications Lens (and apps in the Dash) not immediately available after login

2011-10-17 Thread WarriorIng64
Public bug reported:

When I login to Ubuntu 11.10 on my Toshiba Satellite A505 laptop, the
Applications Lens is not immediately available after login for about 10
seconds or so. Also, during this time applications cannot be started
through a general search in the Dash until this lens starts.

If I know right away after login what application I want to start, but
it's not pinned to the launcher beforehand, then I must wait each time
to start that application or any other unpinned app, which can be
annoying.

This issue was not present in Ubuntu 11.04 (which this machine was
upgraded from).

See attached screenshot, taken shortly after login, for an example.

[Bug 841409] Re: GEdit is the only choise as Calendar application in Default Applications dialog

2011-10-04 Thread WarriorIng64
I can confirm this. I now do have Thunderbird with Lightning 1.0b7
installed and working, but it still won't show in Default Applications.
This seems like a regression from Natty where Evolution supported
calendars (including Google Calendar) right out of the box, while
Thunderbird needs a plugin manually installed by the user (two if you
want Google Calendar support, as in my case).

[Bug 856042] Re: Installation of Labyrinth fails with no error message given

2011-10-07 Thread WarriorIng64
I can confirm the error dialog is now working, but what about the
conflicts preventing Labyrinth from installing? I liked using this
software back in Natty, but it's somewhat disappointing that I can't
install it in Oneiric even when it's listed in the Software Center. Does
a separate bug need to be filed for that?

[Bug 632066] Re: systray.py crashed with SIGSEGV in g_type_module_use()

2011-10-10 Thread WarriorIng64
I've been running hp-systray from a terminal since the last crash to try
and catch any error messages (couldn't get it to run from gdb), but it
did not crash since then. I've just killed that and now I'm running it
using the commands you provided above...so far everything seems okay,
but I cannot say for sure since I still have no idea how to reliably
reproduce this crash.

As for vlc, I don't have that installed, and being in the US I am
hesitant to install these types of things due to potential software
patent issues with the codecs.

[Bug 851172] Re: [regression] Drag and drop inside dash is very slow with Active Blur activated

2011-12-07 Thread WarriorIng64
I just installed compizconfig-settings-manager and tried out the
