[Bug 539057] Re: ibus indicator icon does not respect "show in system tray" preference
I have the exact same problem as John Kuang (#6) described above, and I made a patch that fixes the problem on my computer. Since I cannot run Unity on my computer I cannot verify that this patch works as intended there. This is my first ever patch, so any feedback (working/not working) is welcome. ** Patch added: "08_indicator.patch" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ibus/+bug/539057/+attachment/2569769/+files/08_indicator.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/539057 Title: ibus indicator icon does not respect "show in system tray" preference To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ibus/+bug/539057/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 881135] [NEW] IBus indicator "missing icon"-icon shown when input method is enabled
Public bug reported: Any time I switch input method to Anthy the keyboard-icon switches to an "icon not available"-icon. Switching back to "Input method Off" reverts the icon back to the keyboard-icon. I would expect the icon to not change at all, or maybe change to the Anthy-icon which can be seen in for example Preferences-->Input Method. Also, I am not running Unity, but GNOME Classic (no effects). I found another bug report (#564034) to be related to this. It seems the old behavior was for the icon to switch to another icon showing the input method being used at the moment. This bug report also explains why this behavior was changed, and I suspect this is also the reason behind the bug I am experiencing. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ibus/+bug/564034 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: ibus 1.4.0-1ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.1.0-1.1-generic 3.1.0-rc10 Uname: Linux 3.1.0-1-generic i686 ApportVersion: 1.24-0ubuntu1 Architecture: i386 Date: Mon Oct 24 23:44:25 2011 EcryptfsInUse: Yes InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.04 "Natty Narwhal" - Release i386 (20110427.1) SourcePackage: ibus UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to precise on 2011-10-16 (8 days ago) ** Affects: ibus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 precise -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/881135 Title: IBus indicator "missing icon"-icon shown when input method is enabled To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ibus/+bug/881135/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 876831] Re: Ibus input switching doesn't work when switching to Japanese.
I am also experiencing some of the symptoms described in the bug report above. I have two input methods to choose from when clicking on the iBus system tray icon, "Japanese - Anthy" and "Input method Off". One of them is always marked with a dot on the left - I suppose this is supposed to mark the currently selected input method. Using keyboard shortcuts I can successfully enable and disable Japanese input, but the dot mentioned above does not move from this. So sometimes I am writing in Japanese even though the dot shows "Input method Off" selected, and sometimes the reverse happens. Of course sometimes the dot actually shows the correct settings too. Using the mouse I can *sometimes* successfully move the dot around - e.g. selecting "Input method Off" when the dot is to the left of "Japanese - Anthy" *sometimes* moves the dot to "Input method Off". This does not result in the input method changing though, as in this case I would still be able to write in Japanese only. Once more, in more simple words: * Using my keyboard I can switch the input method between "Input method Off" and "Japanese - Anthy", * Using my mouse I can *sometimes* switch which input method is shown as selected in the interface, * The input method which is shown as selected is completely irrelevant to the input method I am actually using. I have experienced this in both ibus-1.3.99.20110419-1ubuntu3 and the newest ibus-1.4.0-1ubuntu1. ** Changed in: ibus (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/876831 Title: Ibus input switching doesn't work when switching to Japanese.
