Public bug reported: Hi, I am trying Kubuntu 8.10 Beta. My machine locks up during every boot. After a few tries it boots. My machine is Toshiba A100-599 and kernel version is 2.6.27-7-generic. I live the same problem. When my knetworkmanager is opened i can not access to internet with kde applications. My dcop commands returns the same results. I think so the same problem. At the manual partitioning stage of installer i did not see any disk info. Then i ran qtparted from the terminal. It was crashing regularly when i select one of my ntfs partitions. It was giving the same error. No Implementation: Support for opening ntfs file systems is not implemented yet. No Implementation: Support for opening ntfs file systems is not implemented yet. I think qtparted has some problems when analyzing ntfs partitions whose cluster size is different from 4K. To overcome this problem, look at your ntfs partitions and detect the ones which don't have a cluster size 4K. Some partitioning apps (like partition magic) may defaults the cluster size to 1K when formatting ntfs partitions. If you use an app like this be sure to select 4K as the cluster size and reformat your ntfs partition. Or simply use the windows built in disk manager and reformat your ntfs partition. I think so it defaults to 4K when formatting. Hope this helps. At least it worked for me. Hi Bryce, I sent the information with apport. But I should inform you that I can not login to my system with nouveau even with a vt. So I disabled nouveau and now using nvidia binary drivers with the famous :) EDID hack. I hope this information will be helpful for you.
