[Bug 460006] Re: wpa supplicant causes large timeouts

2010-02-10 Thread Troex Nevelin
Same bug here. It's completely annoying when making voip calls or playing FPS
games. I did some research on this problem:
Exact every 2 minutes in syslog I get "wpa_supplicant[1112]:
CTRL-EVENT-SCAN-RESULTS" and exactly in this moment all my wireless traffic if
"paused" for 5-6 seconds, if I run constant ping on my access point I get:
64 bytes from 10.0.2.1: icmp_seq=7 ttl=64 time=0.540 ms
64 bytes from 10.0.2.1: icmp_seq=8 ttl=64 time=0.561 ms
64 bytes from 10.0.2.1: icmp_seq=9 ttl=64 time=6442 ms
64 bytes from 10.0.2.1: icmp_seq=10 ttl=64 time=5442 ms
64 bytes from 10.0.2.1: icmp_seq=11 ttl=64 time=4443 ms
64 bytes from 10.0.2.1: icmp_seq=12 ttl=64 time=3443 ms
64 bytes from 10.0.2.1: icmp_seq=13 ttl=64 time=2445 ms
64 bytes from 10.0.2.1: icmp_seq=14 ttl=64 time=1446 ms
64 bytes from 10.0.2.1: icmp_seq=15 ttl=64 time=447 ms
64 bytes from 10.0.2.1: icmp_seq=16 ttl=64 time=0.496 ms
The same thing will happen if I run in console:
# iwlist wlan0 scan

So the I think the problem is in NetworkManager or nm-applet are running
scan every two minutes, not in wpa_supplicant itself.

Ifound a workaround:
1. stop NetworkManager (/etc/init.d/network-manager stop)
2. write your wireless config for wpa_supplicant (my is simple I have open
wireless network without password)
3. run wpa_supplicant (wpa_supplicant -iwlan0 -c
/etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf)
4. get IP (dhclient3 wlan0)

I'm using ThinkPad X60 with
Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR5212 802.11abg NIC (rev 01)

[Bug 300693] Re: Thinkpad T61p hardlock flashing caps lock

2010-02-19 Thread Troex Nevelin
Random kernel panics with ThinkPad X60 also, I'm using Atheros AR5212
wireless all the time, tried ath_pci and ath5k drivers and still no
progress. What I can say that wireless chip becomes very hot when panic
occurs. Using different kernels does not help. I tried to leave notebook
in console mode with root logged in, but when KP occurred no output
where on the screen, just flashing caps lock.

I have also Intel 3945abg wireless, and will test it after next kernel
panic (usual 1hour-1day).

[Bug 300693] Re: Thinkpad T61p hardlock flashing caps lock

2010-03-16 Thread Troex Nevelin
As I wrote in my post #108 before I've been having kernel panics. About a month
ago I replaced Atheros card with:
03:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG [Golan]
Network Connection (rev 02)
since that time I haven't got any hardlocks or panics.

So in my case I can 100% CONFIRM that the problem is in Atheros card
and/or it's drivers witch causes panics.

[Bug 263555] Re: [intrepid] 2.6.27 e1000e driver places Intel ICH8 and ICH9 gigE chipsets at risk

2011-04-17 Thread Troex Nevelin
I have ThinkPad X60 with 82573L, and after upgrading to 11.04 beta with latest
kernel it stop working almost at all.
Tested e1000e 1.2.20-k2 (in stock kernel) and 1.3.10a driver with no luck,
booting with option "pcie_aspm=force" doesn't help, I've tried
e1000e_recover.iso but it does not boot on my 32bit processor, and the last
what strange I cannot read eeprom:

@tpx60:~# ifconfig eth0 up
@tpx60:~# ethtool -e eth0
Cannot get driver information: No such device
@tpx60:~# ifconfig eth0 down
