[Bug 221851] Re: [hardy] Gajim doesn't use default keyring

2008-05-07 Thread Trev Peterson
I am experiencing the same problem however the default keyring that is
loaded upon login on 8.04 (Hardy) is login.keyring (not default as the
original report states). My install is an upgrade from Feisty so that
may be the cause.

[Bug 221851] Re: [hardy] Gajim doesn't use default keyring

2008-05-07 Thread Trev Peterson
After some investigation it seems the problem is caused by the default keyring
being set to "default" in:
/usr/share/gajim/src/common/passwords.py
This was done to get around a gnome-keyring bug that still exists.

To unlock it automatically the default keyring should be set to "login"
(at least on my Ubuntu install). I believe this is the keychain Hardy
automatically unlocks on login. Attached is a diff of the changed
passwords.py with the orig.

Altenatively, ubuntu could unlock both the login and default keyring on
startup. I elected not to do this since I think it is cleaner to have
all the startup keys in one keychain. I hope this helps,

default.keyring for Gajim"

[Bug 523453] [NEW] basename problems with xargs/find and command substitution

2010-02-17 Thread Trev Peterson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: coreutils

basename does not return the correct basename when executed using
command substitution from find (-exec) or xargs (dirname does).

works using find -exec directly

[Bug 518873] Re: gnome-panel fails to start when desktop loads

2010-02-15 Thread Trev Peterson
I am also having this problem. Here are some relevant details:

Problem system: Ubuntu 9.10 amd64 (nvidia drivers from ubuntu repo)
Unproblematic system: Ubuntu 8.10 x86 (32-bit) (nvidia drivers from ubuntu repo)
Both running roughly the same apps.

Problem: Periodically on boot the menubars are blank (both top and
bottom although System Monitor applet is still working in the bottom
one) and sticky notes are not displayed. Desktop background and icons
are in place as usual.

Solution: killing the gnome-panel process (although the weather applet
is missing from the menubar after it restarts).

Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help with this. It
recurs periodically (4 - 5 times since 9.10 install) and I think this
would effect newer users a lot more since there is no way to shutdown
properly or restore it without help (rebooting does not fix the issue).
Hope this helps,

As a work-around try:

Restarting the mixer applet does not fix the high CPU for me. It
appears to be a bug in the way removing the USB sound is handled lower
than that. Hope this helps,

[Bug 1729887] Re: Drag-and-drop to desktop not possible without copying the file under wayland

2017-12-19 Thread Trev Peterson
This just started happening to me on 17.10. The behavior changes with
the circumstances. I've done several tests and see the following
reproducible behavior:

scenario 1 (moves as expected)
-drag and drop file from Desktop to Desktop/tmp (no nautilus window open) -
File is moved as expected

scenario 2 (bug: copy instead of move):
-open nautilus to Desktop/tmp
-drag and drop file1 from Desktop to Desktop/tmp(nautilus) - Bug: file is
copied not moved

scenario 3 (moves as expected when first moved in nautilus, however, only does
it once):
-open nautilus to Desktop/tmp
-drag and drop file1 from Desktop(nautilus) to Desktop/tmp(nautilus) - file is
moved as expected
-drag and drop file1 from Desktop/tmp(nautilus) to Desktop(nautilus) - file is
moved as expected
-drag and drop file1 from Desktop to Desktop/tmp(nautilus) - file is moved as
expected
-drag and drop file1 from Desktop/tmp(nautilus) to Desktop - file is moved as
expected
-drag and drop file1 from Desktop to Desktop/tmp(nautilus) - Bug: file is copied

I tested this with several different files and types (text, pdf, ods,
etc) to ensure it was not related to type or specific file, the behavior
was the same for all. Closing nautilus window or moving another file
before moving file1 causes the file to be copied instead of moved.

Sorry for the long comment but I hoped this might help the devs isolate
the issue.

[Bug 1643983] Re: vnc-listen value ignored in /etc/xen/xend-config.sxp

2016-11-22 Thread Trev Peterson
After several attempts at using apport-collect and failing, I'm just
attaching the config file here manually. Let me know if I can provide
any other info or config files necessary to troubleshoot.

FYI, the package names we can assign to this do not seem acceptable to
apport-collect (in specific xen-common and xen are not shown as loaded
on my system so I can not attach apport info to this bug as a result).

[Bug 1615732] Re: Execution of filter 'Junk check' fails with "Empty cache file"

2016-09-14 Thread Trev Peterson
I have the same issue. It seems like it might be this bug once again:

I experience this bug for me and for a client that runs evolution as
well. I suspect it's pretty common. I error out when running mail

I can confirm this. It also doesn't accept the -h option and other ones

lots of open bugs on this for many years but no fixes seem to be coming.
Let me know if I can help troubleshoot this further if anyone is

2016-10-14 Thread Trev Peterson
Maybe I'm missing something but doesn't the file I posted have the exact
contents you just said it should? I would also point out that the fix
for me was to do this:

cd /usr/lib/postfix
ln -s postfix-pgsql.so.1.0.1 dict_pgsql.so

That was needed because there was no /usr/lib/postfix/dict_pgsql.so file
after the install only /usr/lib/postfix/postfix-pgsql.so.1.0.1 . Maybe
I'm missing something but I don't see that this is fixed.

[Bug 1628258] Re: unsupported dictionary type: pgsql (/usr/lib/postfix/dict_pgsql.so: No such file or directory)

2016-10-17 Thread Trev Peterson
Sorry to continue this but I want to make sure the solution is correct
here so others with the same problem can find it here as well. In #6 of
this you say dynamicmaps.cf should look like this now:

# Postfix dynamic maps configuration file.
#
#type location of .so file open function (mkmap func)
# =
tcp /usr/lib/postfix/dict_tcp.so dict_tcp_open
sqlite /usr/lib/postfix/dict_sqlite.so dict_sqlite_open
pgsql /usr/lib/postfix/dict_pgsql.so dict_pgsql_open

I believe you accidentally copied what my file contains and what it
should look like now is:

# dict-type so-name (pathname) dict-function mkmap-function
cdb postfix-cdb.so.1.0.1dict_cdb_open mkmap_cdb_open
ldappostfix-ldap.so.1.0.1 dict_ldap_open
mysql postfix-mysql.so.1.0.1 dict_mysql_open
pcrepostfix-pcre.so.1.0.1 dict_pcre_open
pgsql postfix-pgsql.so.1.0.1 dict_pgsql_open
sqlite postfix-sqlite.so.1.0.1 dict_sqlite_open

You are correct that I kept the old config files. This can be solved on ubuntu
16.04 anyway by:
cp /usr/share/postfix/dynamicmaps.cf /etc/postfix/

instead of using the symlink. Thank you so much for the help. Hope
this is beneficial to others.

[Bug 1628258] [NEW] unsupported dictionary type: pgsql (/usr/lib/postfix/dict_pgsql.so: No such file or directory)

2016-09-27 Thread Trev Peterson
Public bug reported:

Upon install postfix is unable to access postgresql databases. I
googled and found this error for postfix-mysql with it's resolution:

https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2322615

The error seems to be on install no link to postfix-pgsql.so.1.0.1 from
dict_pgsql.so is created. As seems to be the case from the link I added
above it seems to be missing in the postfix-mysql package as well.

fix for me:
cd /usr/lib/postfix
ln -s postfix-pgsql.so.1.0.1 dict_pgsql.so

Thanks for the great work, I hope this helps.

2016-09-27 Thread Trev Peterson
Public bug reported:

After installing amavisd-new and clamav-daemon clamav fails with the error:
ClamAV-clamd av-scanner FAILED: CODE(0x36ab6c8) unexpected ,
output="/var/lib/amavis/tmp/amavis-20160923T095247-01779-3L04SPou/parts:
lstat() failed: Permission denied. ERROR\n" at (eval 100) line 905.

clamav user is in the amavis group and the permission on that dir are:

drwxr-x--- 3 amavis amavis 4096 Sep 23 09:52 amavis-
20160923T095247-01779-3L04SPou

For a workaround I used the suggestion here:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/604446/how-to-fix-amvavis-reporting-permission-denied-for-clamav

Edited /etc/clamav/clamd.conf and changed
AllowSupplementaryGroups false
to true

I believe this is one of the typical use case scenario for clamav-daemon
so this option should be included by default. To me this also seems to
be the expected behavior by default (if the user the daemon is run as is
in groups allowing access I'd assume it has that access). I don't
understand why this is an option and not default behavior.

I'm unsure of whether Debian plans to deprecate/remove the
AllowSupplementaryGroups configuration option moving forward. If done,
it will break clamav-daemon - avamisd-new integration as is done
currently. I point this out to prevent future issues.

Thanks for the great work, I hope this helps.

[Bug 1396213] Re: LVM VG is not activated during system boot

2015-07-21 Thread Trev Peterson
I have this problem as well on my 14.04.2 Dom0 cloud1. The VG that
holds all VMs does not come up active on boot so no VMs set to autostart
are started. I have another 14.04.2 which is on matching hardware and
configured very similar to cloud1. It reboots and starts up the VMs
properly. like this one but without LVM snapshots. This seems to
basically mean that servers with LVM snapshots can not be counted on to
boot properly and activate the VG. Please reply and let me know if this
understanding is incorrect.

[Bug 1519751] [NEW] USB Microphones grab card 0

2015-11-25 Thread Trev Peterson
Public bug reported:

I have an onboard intel hda sound cared and 2 USB C-media microphone
adapters (sometimes plugged in/sometimes not). If the usb microphones
are plugged in on boot the intel-hda card gets a random position of card
0, card 1 or card 2 instead of getting card 0 all the time as expected.

I thought the lines below in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf were
supposed to prevent this:

# Keep snd-usb-audio from beeing loaded as first soundcard

[Bug 1310489] Re: xorg.conf overwritten by booting system

How is this not a high priority issue? Deletion of a working config
file should be a high priority, period, shouldn't it? I had a working
14.04 system and ran updates with the result of breakage all over the
system (intel drivers don't run in SNA mode right for me, need UXA to
work properly). Note that is upgrade not dist-upgrade. I'm happy to
help troubleshoot this but it really seems a bad policy to give no
method of keeping a working config. Hope the comments help,

No, tried the latest kernels a while back and it was upstream. As I
mentioned in the ticket it's not in the debian 7 version but I didn't
have time to open an upstream bug ticket so I worked around it by
swapping hardware. I don't have access to the hardware anymore so can't
test further. Best of luck.

[Bug 1165954] Re: LSI 9211-it no drives seen

2013-04-07 Thread Trev Peterson
This controller is seen and works when installing debian 7.0 (wheezy) so
I think there might be a kernel change since then that is causing the
problem. The driver module for this card is mpt2sas. From checking
the syslog and kern.log I see the following lines:

kern.log lines 974 - 980:

I downloaded both source trees (debian seems to have no patches against
this driver so it's mainline 3.2.41) but I don't know enough about this
driver (not much of a C coder) to track down the issue. I hope this
helps. Let me know if there is more I can do to test/troubleshoot.

[Bug 887349] Re: Can't login in Windows live acount using empathy

2011-11-13 Thread Trev Peterson
Any estimation on how long before users should expect the fixed python-
papyon to hit update manager? Please note there is no sarcasm or
complaint in that question, I just don't know how long it normally takes
from patch to the new packages being available on update manager. I've
installed ubuntu for a number of family and friends and some use MSN and
have been asking how long until they get back to using empathy for it
again (currently using the web-based interface as a work around).
Thanks

[Bug 714247] Re: Gadu-gadu contacts are not saved

2011-05-26 Thread Trev Peterson
I have the same problem here. This basically makes the Gadu Gadu part
of Empathy useless (IM without contact list is not so useful). Since
this is the largest IM protocol in Poland (15+ million users) and it is
functionally useless I would suggest changing this to medium importance
(but that's just me). I should mention I'm not Polish but have friends
there and this is the only IM almost all of them use.

It seems to me it doesn't pull down the contact list from the server but
the debug output doesn't show much. Let me know if you want the full
haze debug output from the session. Here's the relevant portion of the
log when creating a test user 11 :
