[Bug 1070731] [NEW] cheese starts, puts and icon in the menu bar and then disappears. If i run it from the command line then it crashes with a BadRequest error

2012-10-24 Thread Toby Hewlett
Public bug reported:

I am running an HP ProBook 4730s with an HD web cam. Here is the error
when I run cheese from a terminal:

(cheese:4664): Gdk-WARNING **: The program 'cheese' received an X Window System
error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation)'.
  (Details: serial 148 error_code 1 request_code 154 minor_code 19)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
   that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
   To debug your program, run it with the GDK_SYNCHRONIZE environment
   variable to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
   backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
