[Bug 126140] snd_hda_intel fails to unload (or unload correctly) on shut down; laptop fails to halt
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kernel-image-2.6.22-8-generic-di I chose to file this under the current Gutsy kernel, but this issue has plagued me since Dapper. Ever since Dapper my laptop wouldn't shut down properly. I would get the infamous "will not halt" message, but my computer would never completely shut down. Today I found the culprit: the snd_hda_module. If I manually remove this module (rmmod snd_hda_intel) before shutting down everything works perfectly. My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite A105-S2716. I also came across a post from bug #43961 that confirms the same behavior. Coincidentally, he has the same model laptop I do: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.15/+bug/43961/comments/157 ** Affects: linux-source-2.6.22 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: hda intel satellite snd toshiba ** Description changed: Binary package hint: kernel-image-2.6.22-8-generic-di I chose to file this under the current Gutsy kernel, but this issue has plagued me since Dapper. [Bug 88400] Re: [Feisty] Sound card (HDA) no more detected after switching from -8 to -9
To add to Stevi's comment, replacing '3stack' with 'auto' is a work- around that works for me. Maybe this will help identify the real problem so it may be properly fixed. -- [Feisty] Sound card (HDA) no more detected after switching from -8 to -9 https://launchpad.net/bugs/88400 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
