[Bug 266911] Re: Black screen after clicking to start a Guest Session
I'm having the same problem too; selecting the 'Guest session' causes the screen to go blank and the PC becomes unresponsive. The only option is to power it off; logging in via SSH doesn't work - I can't even ping it once it locks up. Like Robert above, I've got a dual-head setup with fglrx. I'm running a clean install of Intrepid. -- Black screen after clicking to start a Guest Session https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/266911 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 145501] Re: laptop screen remains on with external monitor and lid closed
Hi Bryce, Like Fred, I tested the xserver-xorg-video-intel - 2:2.5.1-1ubuntu5~intrepid but unfortunately the bug was still there. [Bug 145501] laptop screen remains on with external monitor and lid closed
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel Hi, I'm running an up-to-date version of Gutsy on Dell Latitude D500 laptop, which has an intel graphics card. With the intel driver (version 2:2.1.1-0ubuntu3), installed by default, the laptop's LCD panel remains on when the laptop is used with an external monitor connected and the lid closed, using a docking station. This is obviously wasting power and making it quite warm! The laptop panel is off when GRUB loads, but is switched on when X starts and the login screen appears. Using the key combinations to cycle CRT/LCD display has no effect. As a workaround, i have installed 'i810switch' and run the command 'i810switch lcd off' after login. This problem does NOT occur using Kubuntu Feisty, with the i810 driver - with this the laptop lcd remains off if booted with lid closed and external monitor attached. [Bug 71839] Re: In Ubuntu 6.10 Edgy Eft: After install nvidia-glx and setup the system for the new driver, the Hibernate and Suspend don't resume video anymore with a nVidia GeForce 6200 AGP video car
The additional information requested is included in the attached text file. Strangely, I couldn't get the PC to hibernate this time - so this output is following a suspend and (failed) resume. Not sure why it will no longer try to hibernate as I don't think I've changed anything, but perhaps some update has done something since the original bug report..? If it would help, I can always try getting the same info on a clean install with/without the nvidia-glx drivers as I have a free partition. Hope this helps - let me know if you need any more info. ** Attachment added: "Outpi" http://librarian.launchpad.net/5933793/bug_report_71839.txt -- In Ubuntu 6.10 Edgy Eft: After install nvidia-glx and setup the system for the new driver, the Hibernate and Suspend don't resume video anymore with a nVidia GeForce 6200 AGP video card. https://launchpad.net/bugs/71839 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I'm having what sounds to be the same problem. With a clean (Kubuntu) Edgy install, suspend/hibernate worked OK. After installing 'nvidia- glx', they don't work - suspend/hibernate appears to take place, but on resume the screen just stays blank and the system is unresponsive. I'm using an NVidia GeForce4 MX 4000 AGP 8x (with 64Mb ram I think), on a machine with an AMD Athlon XP 1700+ and 1Gb ram. The motherboard is an Epox EP-8RGA with nVidia nForce 2 chipset. -- In Ubuntu 6.10 Edgy Eft: After install nvidia-glx and setup the system for the new driver, the Hibernate and Suspend don't resume video anymore with a nVidia GeForce 6200 AGP video card. https://launchpad.net/bugs/71839 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 145501] Re: [i855GM] [PATCH] laptop screen remains on with external monitor and lid closed
Jeremy, I no longer have the laptop & docking station that I was using when I originally reported this bug, so unfortunately I can't test it. -- [i855GM] [PATCH] laptop screen remains on with external monitor and lid closed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/145501 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
