[Bug 345531] Re: fn keys for backlight (brighness) not working : geforce 8 card on sony vaio, no laptop_panel in lshal

2009-04-24 Thread Thomas Lété
Shawe, your should verify the ubuntu version and install smartdimmer
only if needed :)

And you should clarify this sentense :
echo "Only works with:"
echo "nVidia Corporation GeForce 8400M GS"
echo "nVidia Corporation GeForce 8600M GT (rev a1)"

For people like me who have a GeForce 8400M GT :)
(I didn't test your script yet, sorry :) )

Schmirrwurst, please my first name is Thomas ^^
I tested the script, it works only to map correctly the keys, not when I'm on
battery :)
But it's very slow...

[Bug 349841] [NEW] Should recommend nvlcock instead of smartdimmer

2009-03-27 Thread Thomas Lété
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: hal

Hello !
I've found an error in jaunty beta :
hal recommends smartdimmer for backlight control of sony laptops (and other
brands).
The current smartdimmer package isn't able to dim the light, but nvclock does
and provides a smartdimmer update.
I think it's a mistake because the minimal version of smartdimmer required is
0.8b4, the actual version of nvclock :)

Thanks for the beta, i'll maybe have my backlight working correctly ^^

Good luck !

[Bug 349903] [NEW] [Jaunty & Intrepid] Sony brightness hotkey not working/showing notification

2009-03-27 Thread Thomas Lété
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: acpi-support

Hello !
I'm using intrepid and jaunty.
Intrepid does support my brightness hotkeys at the begining but one day... they
didn't work anymore...
By "work", I mean that gnome was showing a bar representing the brightness,
it's no more the case, it shows... nothing.
I am testing jaunty beta and the problem is still present.
acpi_listen recognizes the event :

Brightness down :
sony/hotkey SNC 0001 0010
sony/hotkey SNC 0001 003b

Brightness up :
sony/hotkey SNC 0001 0011
sony/hotkey SNC 0001 003b

I don't know where the problem come from exactly, maybe a bad script
somewhere...

If you need more informations, ask me :)

Thanks !

[Bug 95444] Re: No Screen Backlight Control; Notebooks (Vaio, Macbook, HP/Compaq, Samsung, Zepto et al.) with Nvidia Geforce8/Geforce9/Quadro series graphics

2009-03-31 Thread Thomas Lété
This bug isn't fixed for me, hal recommends smartdimmer (>= 0.8b4) but it's
wrong...
It must recommend nvclock (>= 0.8b4) instead of smartdimmer. I think it's a
mistake :)
But nvclock from ubuntu isn't provided with the smartdimmer command... nvclock
should superseed smartdimmer (which is now legacy).

[Bug 448291] Re: address links in Firefox are blue which is actually horrible

2009-10-14 Thread Thomas Lété
For firefox, a possible workaround is to add these CSS lines to userChrome.css
(create it in .mozilla/firefox/PROFILE-DIRECTORY/chrome if it doesn't exist) :
.ac-comment {font-size: 100% !important; color: #333 !important; font-style:
italic;}
.ac-comment[selected='true'] { color: #FFF !important; }
.ac-url-text {font-size: 100% !important; color: #806558 !important; }
.ac-url-text[selected='true'] { color: #FFF !important; }

(Need to be adapted with the hexadecimal colors that match your design
:) )
