[Bug 1075923] Re: nautilus hangs copying large directories from a samba share
I'm also having troubles when using applications (like Eye of Gnome, Libre Office, Nemo and Nautilus) in combination with files on a smb share (via gvfs). Usually when the application hangs up it also becomes unkillable, so for the most part it requires a logout or reboot to fix the problem. Needless to say that working files is a major part of computing and smb shares are very common, so imo this should take priority. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1075923 Title: nautilus hangs copying large directories from a samba share To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gvfs/+bug/1075923/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I have not tried that mentioned ubuntu kernel. With the source of 5.17.0-rc8+ and patches as described in this thread I do have audio but no brightness control. It does show a brightness bar on screen when hitting the keys, but no effect on screen itself. Running linux mint 20.3, XFCE version, on Lenovo Legion 7 16ACHg6 82N6. Note: before running this patched kernel, also my laptop screen sometimes stayed black after then screensaver/screen-lock was active. With the patched rc8 I have not seen that happening anymore. [Bug 292134] [NEW] Tracker does not search properly
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: tracker Tracker does not find all content. This problem occurs in all files. This problem consist of several sub problems 1. Tracker does not adequately search my evolution IMAP. I have send myself an email with a very specific word. If I use that word as the input query than no results are returned. Also, any other possible input describing the email failed to have tracker return the email. I can see that tracker recieves file system updates when I recieve email. 2. When I create a new file I can see, by tailing the log file, that tracker receives filesystem information. I can immediately search on the newly created filename. Very good. I can use tracker to search on content. Even better! However, when I reopen the file and change it's contents and re-search using the added content or parts of it as the input to tracker than tracker failed to return the document, though I can clearly see, by using the same tail on the log file, how tracker receives filesystem updates. 3. Although I have re-indexed all my current content, tracker fails to return the correct files based on keywords as input terms. Some input queries work however but you really need to be lucky. Basically tracker doesn't work very good as it comes to searching on content. Sometimes it works. I really want to solve this. If i can help in debugging/testing. [Bug 317563] Re: caff doesn't send emails via SMTP with my From address
It uses the specified email and owner variables for the From: header. However, the Envelope FROM in the SMTP session is decided by the Mail::Internet perl module that caff uses. I think it should be possible to use the MailFrom option from this perl module to specify the envelope from. It's a design decision from caff to make it agnostic of which email transport you use. Otherwise we would have to reimplement SMTP and sendmail and ... functionality in this script, and in the next script, etc. Adding such an option to caff is hence not 'simple' as it complicates the codebase, rather than abstracting the sending away to the tools that are good at sending email. -- caff doesn't send emails via SMTP with my From address https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/317563 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 84453] Re: msttcorefonts installs non-free fonts automatically and doesn't ask if user agrees with license
I do not agree with this. The package description clearly states: "You will need an Internet connection to download these fonts if you don't already have them." Also, the debconf templates include this information and the ability to abort: "If you haven't yet downloaded these fonts, leave this blank and the fonts will be downloaded for you. Approximately 4 MB will need to be downloaded. If you are not connected to the internet or do not wish to download these fonts now, enter "none" to abort." About the LAN-installation: there is in fact a good way to avoid that, and that is to specify a directory where the fonts can be found when presented with the msttcorefonts/dldir debconf question. This is intended exactly for such purposes. The uninstallation problem has meanwhile been fixed. It is questionable that this is called a security vulnerability.
