[Bug 482995] Re: Sansa clip mp3 player unusable in 9.10 works in 9.04
I am having the same problem on a Dell inspiron 1521. My Sansa Clip was working fine in 9.04 with the 2.6.28-14 kernel but when I updated to the -15 kernel the problem started. It has not improved with 9.10 and the new kernel. It works on another computer I have that is also running 9.10. I have an entry in the Kubuntu forums about this http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/index.php?topic=3107789.0 -- Sansa clip mp3 player unusable in 9.10 works in 9.04 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/482995 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I've installed plymouth 0.9.3-1ubuntu10.1 from the cosmic-proposed repository and I now have the Xubuntu boot splash screen back and no longer experience a crash after logging in. [Bug 556782] Re: [rs690m] Graphics corruption with ati x1200
UPDATE: The mods suggested above sadly did not help with Natty. I've done a total, clean install of 10.04 LTS UbuntuStudio (as I wanted the low-latency kernel for music apps). With UbuntuStudio 10.04: * Video so far works now without a hitch, straight out of the box with my ATI RV370 [Radeon X300] PCI card! * What I think is OpenGL content now works just as well as anything, and I haven't seen any rendering issues yet. Overall, video seems much more solid and stable. No further command-line mods or workarounds needed at this point in time. Not only that, but with the addition of just the Medibuntu package and alsa-firmware on top, I can even drive my EMU (Creative Labs) 0404 PCI soundcard for audio and MIDI as well! Next step: create the new bug report re: apocalyptic Natty rendering, as per Oliver's suggestion #89. [Bug 848065] Re: system-config-printer: Windows/Samba printer authentication too complicated
Just to add to the authentication issue: On Ubuntu 12.04 I am experiencing this problem now. I have a Kodak Hero 5.1 with the driver in synaptic as well as Launchpad. Was working fine but since various updates I can no longer connect via wireless on this home printer. I can connect easily via USB port. Having spent all day with this, there has got to be a simpler way to do this, too many perameters, too confusing. It's supposed to just work. I have yet to check if my two Mint boxes can still print wirless. Don't want to know at the moment. [Bug 556782] Re: [rs690m] Graphics corruption with ati x1200
Hi all, I am a completely new Linux user. I moved from a totally broken Win XP environment to Ubuntu 11.04 a couple of weeks ago, expecting a streamlined, fast and functional system, with Unity 3D as a fancy GUI. But from the outset I have had diabolical issues with screen rendering corruption with the default Unity 3D setup and any apps in Unity 2D or even in Classic (no effects) which presumably use OpenGL which I wanted to use, e.g. Scilab (plotting), Oolite “Elite-like” game. The rendering corruption started right from the first: even the “try out” Ubuntu mode running from my USB drive during setup was afflicted! “Installing the whole Natty Ubuntu OS properly from disk will fix the problem,” I thought at first. I was wrong! Hardware: - Dell Dimension 5150 tower PC, 1GB physical RAM - Dual-core Intel Pentium 4 @ 3GHz - According to Ubuntu lspci -nn I have: ATI Technologies Inc RV370 5B60 [Radeon X300 (PCIE)] [1002:5b60] 01:00.1 Display controller [0380]: ATI Technologies Inc RV370 [Radeon X300SE] [1002:5b70] -Two monitors: 17” Dell LCD Model E176FPc driven by the 15-pin D-type video output; and an old Apple 19” monitor connected to the DVI output of this video card. Nothing connected to the S-Video socket. - Have used the monitors “control panel” in Ubuntu to configure an extended desktop across these two monitors, with the Dell as primary to the left, and the Apple to the right. Have uploaded some screenshots of the rendering issues in Unity3D (a complete wipeout, totally unusable) and within Unity2D and Classic (no effects). They remind me so much of a buffer overrun somewhere... I have no additional proprietary drivers installed, e.g. ATI/Radeon. I am loathe to install any because, having surfed widely to try and find a sure-fire resolution to this issue, I have seen so many cases where advised changes have messed up the user's system in their particular case that I have stopped short of making changes: I am too naïve a Linux user to start messing about with it to that level. Is this thread still running? In the spirit of offering up more evidence for the nature and scope of the rendering corruption issues out here in the community, would it be helpful if I described my symptoms in more detail...? I can describe various reproducible (on my system) instances if needed... ** Attachment added: "Unity 3D desktop, screengrab encompassing both screens" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/556782/+attachment/2423966/+files/U3D%2005%20Screenshot.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/556782 Title: [rs690m] Graphics corruption with ati x1200 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/556782/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 556782] Re: [rs690m] Graphics corruption with ati x1200
Here's an example of how (presumably) OpenGL content gets stuffed even with correctly-rendered Ubuntu Classic (no effects) window surroundings... [Bug 771788] Re: nVidia driver activated and apparently being used but reported as not being used by jockey-gtk
Bearing in mind that it's early days for Unity, it's as well to remember that new builds are tested in the wild on us. Only then can they be 'completed'. Gnome 3, maybe, should be the main development with Unity being a spin off build for those who have the kit. For me at least I just want an OS that I can work on. I don't want to be worried that every time I shut down that I may not be able to boot up again nor have to spend hours with workarounds and fixes. It might even help if there was an updating list of working cards to refer to. So if the worst happens (nothing) it would be possible to go get another card. There is a tension between forging ahead technically (probably touch screen) and being sensitive to users with old kit. So far as I can see tested cards (which you probably have seen) from another posting ATI cards: Radeon 7500, Radeon 9250, Radeon 9500, Radeon 9600, Radeon X300, Radeon X1600, Radeon HD 2600. NVIDIA cards: TNT/Vanta, GeForce 2MX, GeForce 3, GeForce 4MX, GeForce FX 5200, GeForce FX 5500, GeForce 6200, GeForce 6800, GeForce 7600, GeForce 8600, GeForce 8800. Intel cards: 865 ('Extreme Graphics'), 915 ('GMA 900'), 945 ('GMA 950'), 965 ('GMA X3100'). Others: SiS 661, SiS 760, S3 UniChrome, Matrox G400, S3 ProSavage. Still sketchy then. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/771788 Title: nVidia driver activated and apparently being used but reported as not being used by jockey-gtk -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 692145] Re: Need to enter two times my pass word
Recent post #142383 seems related to bug report #692145 Ubuntu 10.10 desktop key ring log-in twice. Having this 'double log-in' problem at start-up I was looking in 'Passwords and Encryption Keys' where I found that 'Desktop Couch Authentication' is listed twice. Is this as it should be and/or could this cause the need to log-in twice? If this is the culprit, is there a way to safely remove one of these entries? I want to list this as low priority but if there is some explanation I would be interested as both my computers have this problem. Also I don't want to mess up key ring as I don't exactly understand how it works, I can put up with double log-ins better than a whacked OS. I have read threads but they either go round in a circle or miss the point. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/692145 Title: Need to enter two times my pass word -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
