[Bug 381288] [NEW] Character encoding setting saved in config doesn't stick

[Bug 162557] Re: pptp vpn regresses after feisty to gutsy upgrade
I think the problem has to do with dns. I turned off option in NM -> Configure VPN -> PPP Options -> Exclusive device access, seemed to be better. Well, I seem to have it working by name and by ip address now. I dont think any of my changes were necessary, my current config is the same as the original, but it is working now. Maybe the gconf schema or other config file formatting changed between 7.04 and 7.10 that just took me running through the setup to get it "up to current". No way to know at this point. [Bug 37288] Re: Bluetooth not discovered on Dell Inspiron 9400
The initial bug reporter couldn't see the bluetooth adapter in lspci, i'm almost sure this is some mini-usb connector. I bought my Dell 350 board after buying my e1505, so I installed it. Worked 50-50 with edgy, same with feisty. You can see the card with lsusb instead of lspci. I think the forum thread showing the vista conflict may be spot on. I have vista home preium on another partition, and noted that my bluetooth works _more_ at home than it does in the office. But I only boot feisty at work. I am more apt to reboot from windows without shutting off laptop and then boot feisty. Which is the methed that supposedly reports the firmware as 413c:8103. I will do a couple of reboots in a few minutes and see if the bluetooth usb id changes based on which os is booted first. [Bug 320057] Re: Thunderbird hangs for 10secs when auto-completing address
Same issue with all ubuntu 9.04 machines I have tried in my office. Same office, winxp tbird does not have this delay, so it appears to be sth with the linux implementation. On the machine I use most often, 64bit 9.04, 4G or ram. Tbird 2.0.0.23. LDAP address book is coming from win2k domain controller that is local to this subnet. This pause is more than 10 seconds in my experience, I see about 30 second delay before I get tbird back. I have tried adjusting the number of results filter on the advanced tab of Directory Server Properties in TB with no effect. I see this problem in 3 instances: 1) When I type in the To: field an address that is not present in the LDAP dir, at some point, it will stop accepting input and freeze. 2) When I type in teh To: fiald an address that gets say 4 hits based on the partial string, if I press Tab to go down the list to the 3rd, or use the mouse to select the third, it will freeze. 3) When I choose Compose, Contacts (and get a sidebar address book) and type in the Search For field. If I make a typo and try to backspace, it will freeze. If I do not press backspace and press the blue X to clear the field, no freeze. If I spell the partial name correctly, then I can double click a selection with no freeze. -- Thunderbird hangs for 10secs when auto-completing address https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/320057 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 320057] Re: Thunderbird hangs for 10secs when auto-completing address
As a test, I installed TB 2.0.0.23 on my Crunchbang Linux netbook. Similar results, strangely, the pause was not as long. My desktop is a core2 duo with 4G or ram. the Netbook is a Dell mini9 with 2G of ram. To trip it up on the netbook I did the following: In the contact search box, enter Der, got two hits on ldap, backspaced once (removing the r) and then received 10 second hang where Tbird was unresponsive. I wondered if this may be related to my use of Likewise open. [Bug 325726] Re: email-attached data damaged or only partially
I am also affected by this. Using 9.04 with thunderbird 2.0.0.23, with imap to msft exchange 2000 server (this is a work desktop). When I try to forward an email that has attachments, it will work MOST of the time. However, it will fail with some frequency. I have seen it at least 3 times in ~30 days. I had my tbird set to "Forward Messages As attachments" and I just changed it to "Inline" to see if it makes a difference. I have had this happen with pdf's and csv files. The example today was an email with a csv file attachment that I forwarded without opening (may be key). I wonder if imap may not be dealing with the attachment fully unless the mail is opened? The csv file was supposed to have 574 lines in it. My copy in my Inbox did have 574. The attachment in my Sent Items only had 392 lines. I have two pcap files saved that show a speedy search hit (with no backspacing), .20 second for the transaction. the second, in the To field, I typed Step, got a hit on Stephen (which filled in to the field.). Re: [Bug 763155] Re: ubi-usersetup failed with error code 10
I do not believe that is the case. I am able to install other versions of ubuntu and debian. Granted, the sectors is a problem, but I don't think it is "the" problem. [Bug 763155] Re: ubi-usersetup failed with error code 10
I would like to reopen this please. I downloaded OpenSUSE livecd and installed it in the same fashion (same partitions) with no drama. Opensuse auto detected the partitions, assigned them the way I did manually, and installed first time. I also booted win7 (from sda2) and setup a chkdisk and it found no bad sectors. I do think this is a problem with the 11.04 installer and have invested enough time in this. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/763155 Title: ubi-usersetup failed with error code 10 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

And if the install failed because of this error, shouldn't the error dialog come from ubiquity.partman instead of ubi-usersetup? Re: [Bug 763155] Re: ubi-usersetup failed with error code 10
The reinstall with the natty beta1 media has the "Who Are You" dialog after the timezone and keyboard selection. This is the dialog that was not appearing for me on the natty beta2 media. Re: [Bug 763155] Re: ubi-usersetup failed with error code 10
BETA1 does not exhibit this problem. The first install went well (which was not where the problem surfaced) and the reinstall did show me the "Who Are You" dialog. BETA2 did not show me the "Who Are You" dialog. This is repeatable. [Bug 763155] Re: ntfsresize detected bad sectors but chkdsk does not.
Here is the syslog from the beta1 install. No error 10 and no ntfs error. beta1 has ntfsresize 2.0.0, same as beta2. It seems there is some parallelism, while you answer the dialogs in ubiquity, some copying and partman actions are occurring on another thread.
